O'Connell put the fear of god into me just standing on the terrace.
I met Martin Johnson at St Pancras today. Enormous hands, liked my 70s Coventry City trackie top.

i met dallaglio once when i were a lad, he was huge!!!!
I also met Matt Dawson on my way to Ecuador at 16, he wasn't... but a really nice bloke, really happy to be recognised i think.Aye VV, sent to me by my old rugby friends.
God i miss rugby.

• #335
haha, that tart was always swanning around northampton town centre hoping to be recognised!
-
• #336
The wasps team came to my club when I was about 16-17 (the summer after winning the GP & HC) and Dallaglio is indeed a huge man. His gigantic head impressed me the most.
Dawson was there but for some reason was incredibly grumpy. Joe Worsley was the same. Stuart Abbott and Mark Van Gisbergen however were awesome and had a good chat with me.
I met James Haskell this weekend at a 7s tournament I played in and he is a monster. For anyone that follows 7s, England had a development squad there and I ended up playing (and scoring :P) against them. I also formed part of a tackle on Uche Uduoza.

• #337
was that Rosslyn Park 7s?
I meant to go to that, but got busy, and not in the good way. -
• #338
nah, Bury St. Edmund's International 7s.
England, Wales & Ireland had development squads along with most of the leading invitational sides.
I meant to go to the floodlight one at Rosslyn Park but couldn't make it either..

pretty cool man!

Well, got undone by Sarries at home again :(
We had no answer to their awesome second row and fly half, and just didn't take our chances. They brought a good crowd with them and they acknowledged the saints fans who hung around to applaud their lap of honour.
Lets just hope that if Bath don't do the business then Sarries spoil Leicester's party.
-
• #341
I was at school with Dallalglio, and he was a monster even back then.
Good result for sarries, but WTF were Saints doing for the last 3 minutes, ffs boys take a shot at goal!
-
• #342
They were trying to run the clock down so we couldn't get another shot in afterwards. I was surprised they didn't just have a go and then defend but they gambled and lost, it was all or nothing.
I'm a happy bunny, it was a really great game with both sides going for it full tilt. The Leicester/Bath game was pretty dire in comparison!
Northampton away, Leicester away, Northampton away is probably the best set of successive results Saracens have ever had and the biggest momentum they could possibly have going into the final. Our first final in over 10 years I think, I'm hoping we'll do the business.
-
• #343
Yeah i hope Saries put one over Leicester, cant stand the tigers
-
• #344
Yep, that last session of play was a shit-fight. Myler was in great position but wanted to get 10m closer having missed a droppy earlier on. I've barely got my voice back. "PULL THE TRIGGER FFS!!!" My only consolation was Foden totally owning Vyvyan with that deep kick, chase and hit near the 5m line. The failure to capitalise on that summed it up.
There's the difference between champions and also rans. I'll be cheering Sarries on in the final, they've played stunning rugby in the last few weeks and atoned for the start of the season when even their own fans were booing the no-rugby gameplan.

This thread needs a bump, a badly timed one but still.
Since the last post in this thread the Bulls have won the Super 14, NZ cleaned up the tri nations and the domestic season has kicked off, the currie cup is well under way, autumn internationals are around the corner and the world cup is only 12 months away, let's hope NZ have peaked too early (again). -
• #346
let's also hope that Ireland can regain their form of a couple of seasons ago ;)
Nice to see Sarries clock their first win of the season today. David Strettle looks to be a superb addition to the team.
-
• #347
Strettle did look pretty handy today, was terribly sorry to see Brits leave the field.
2 from 2 and 2nd in the table for Saints. Not looking forward the international duty losses though.

Autumn internationals and none of the usual odd posts in here just yet..
For what it's worth I think England are going to have a tough day. I'm sure they'll hold their own for the first half but NZ's class will out.
Ireland seem the most likely to make an impact against the southern hem teams, purely because of the SA form of late and their monster list of injuries.
Wales will also probably struggle but it should be a great weekend for rugby.. Just the ticket to cheer me up. Haven't been able to play for a couple of weeks as I sprained my AC. :(
