how is that not promoting cycling?
sorry but get real.
I didn't say it wasn't promoting cycling, I'm real enough, thanks.
I said do something *useful *to promote it, not something dreamed up by a cunt, watched by clarkson wannabes
people really don't read posts before arguing, do they...

C'mon, tell us, what's the REAL reason you don't like Hamilton? Is it because he's a English champion (you seem to want him defeated by Schumacher, and think Vettel is better), or what is it?
Shit, GGGGranville - I do hope your not suggesting that voicing dislike of a sportsman is tantamount to racism 'cos that's what your statement seems to be inferring
perhaps people don't like him just cos he's a tax exile…

but most F1 drivers live in Monaco..
it's the way of things, they only do one race in this country, so if they work out of the UK for the majority of the year, why not avoid UK tax?

Tax dodging (especially when wealthy) is scuzzy. The fact that a lot of us would contemplate doing it does not change that fact.

Thing is, Hamilton's explanation is that he "gets recognised too much in England" - he can't even be honest about it. Then add to that the Children In Need appearance - pay some fucking tax instead, except the charity thing helps with his already dodgy public image.....
It all adds up to one big cunt.

@big daddy wayne,
Not all people voicing their dislike of Hamilton will be doing so simply because of his overly-confident manner. Some won't like his background either, but won't just come out and say it.
Its the world we live in, and its good that we can all like and dislike equally.

I think your wrong GA2G, in every interview I've seen, Schumacher has been both restrained and humble (although that might be the accent). Hamilton, on the other hand, has repeatedly called the other drivers monkeys or (I think) numpties. No amout of success, even through adversity, allows you to insult other sportsmen. I dislike the footballing practise of insulting the opposing team when close for the same reason. It's hideous foul play, an on pitch ad hominem of the worst degree.
Also, I agree with Dooks, I don't care about his parents. Or his brother. Does it make him more deserving to win? No. Does it make him a better driver? No. Hopefully, you win if you are the best out there, not because everyone feels sorry for you.C'mon, tell us, what's the REAL reason you don't like Hamilton? Is it because he's a English champion (you seem to want him defeated by Schumacher, and think Vettel is better), or what is it?
Vettel has done fantastic, fantastic stuff in a weak car and in bad conditions. Every race he has done better and better, climbing positions on and off the grid. Also, he's a happy, seemingly friendly guy and on instinct I'm a fan.
Oh, and thanks BDW, I don't like being racist by inference, well pointed out.
Nothing would make me happier than English champions in more sporting evens, I'd just like them to be nice ones. Call me old fashioned if you like. I don't hold any truck with modern stuff like derailleurs anyway.p.s. I love how Schumacher drives a Fiat 500. Kills me every time.

I can't see any other reason why Hamilton should be singled out for "tax avoidance". There is an undercurrent of "we let him into our country, and this is how he repays us". Virtually every racing driver before him left the country for tax reasons: Damon Hill, Nigel Mansell, Eddie Irvine, Jackie Stewart, David Coulthard, Jenson Button, it was never brought up with them.
Oh, and Nicole Cooke lives in Switzerland too.fyi I'm white and Welsh.

Bullshit, show me where you see that undercurrent in any of these posts. Your words, no one else's.
fyi I hate the other cunts on your list too...

I don't really see how he is dodging tax though. As RPM said above, most of his money is earned elsewhere on earth and he doesn't live here any more, as is his right. He is doing something totally different (in my opinion) to someone like Philip Green who (apparently) really does dodge tax, makes most of his money here and (arguably) lives here too.

Markyboy, he's only been in F1 for 2 years. In the second year, he won it; though the last race did look like a really peculiar win (just as his last race in China the previous year, looked like a really inexplicable defeat).
Okay, so I concede that tax avoidance isn't noble, but its widely the accepted practise by just most of F1 drivers.
Hamilton feels the negative vibes from many Brits, and for that reason alone (added to the tax reduction), wise heads might well concur with his move a friendlier place.

The undercurrent is in the media. That's where you're all getting the tax issue from.

Schumacher knew how to professionally comport himself in an interview. BUT, when other drivers were interviewed about Schumacher, I cannot remember a single positive response about his manner, or his humility and restraint. Quite the opposite.Vettel's good, but I think Robert Kubica would clean his clock.

winston, you mean to say that you believe that there is no racism or attitudes of racism in modern Britain?Okay, fair enough. I must be all wrong then. Therefore, the ONLY reason people wouldn't like Hamilton, is because of his interview persona.
That's okay then. I was worried for a minute that some National Front card-carriers might have had other thoughts.
Glad you put me straight, that its just about his brashness.

What, so because we find out from the media that he doesn't pay his taxes we aren't allowed to comment on it or hold it against him? Where else do you get your information from? I don't give a fuck about why the media may want to tell us he doesn't pay his taxes (and to be fair, plenty of other celebrities have been outed for this and they aren't black), but I do care about the dishonesty and the hypocrisy.

You are fucking stupid aren't you?
They have to push their cars now since race fuel is too expensive..
