Ha, sweet my abbreviation has bj in it. Amazing.
It's a surly cross check. Way heavy but sturdy as fuck. With the dollar actually being worth something compared to the pound, maybe now I'll pony up for a jackson. Under $600 with multiple paint colors. SOOOOO FUCKING TEMPTING!

get normal tape and wrap it around that smelly spiky vest you are always wearing that should put some holes in it.

on one of these
http://velo-orange.com/spbemo.htmlDamn dude, I sound like a fucking shill. Seriously though, 1 day turnaround on fucking mailorder for cheaper than NYC prices is the greatest thing ever. I'm so fucking sick of the shops in NYC (besides trackstar who has nothing to do with this kind of bike) being full of asshats who overcharge, have no good advice to offer, and take up to 2 weeks on large and small orders.

Good point - what about germany or switzerland? I've seen some awesome track bikes on german ebay, but haven't looked for touring stuff. I guess it might be all new stuff with those funny butterfly handlebars they like so much. If the UK shipping is that bad you could buy something on UK ebay and take an easyjet flight here, spend a weekend in london and take the bike back.
haha. i'm working on that.
JACK! what panniers are those? (bike lookin good so far!)

Flo those are ostrich pannier from japan. I'd say same quality as the fancy french ones, way less the cost. They're gorgeous in person. Now all the need is to be beaten the shit out of for a few thousand miles. They're too crispy. No wabisabi yet.
Yo those raleighs are slaughterin it man. 90's tourers = way underrated. Not my style at all but i totally appreciate the scorcher steez. Especially the waterbottle.
What are a few good classic Raleigh touring models. I have a feeling you can find one for sick deals with a little patience.

Flobukki,
Why complain about the lack of good frames in Austria, when you have some of the best Classic Lightweight frames right there: Puch (or Austro-Daimler, for the US market)?Their Ultima, Superleicht and Vent Noir models are amongst the most sought-after of all the 1970s classics. They sponsored both European and American racing teams, with some really nice racing frames. I believe they sold out to Bianchi around 1980, but the Puch name (and the bikes) kept on for some time afterwards.
Do they have charity (or thrift) shops in Austria, where old bikes can be bought?
what time will you be there?
