Thanks Ed!
Bob Jackson's actually built Hetchins bikes throughout the eighties when Hetchins went into administration, so there is a traditional cross over between the two marques.I prefer to think of this bike as a fast tourer rather than a traditional lightweight - it has a full set of mudguard and rack eyelets and has high clearance for fatter tyres and decent guards.
You could race it or tour it!

Thanks for that anagrama, makes a lot more sense. Might find my steed on there.

Thanks, It's Mirage/Veloce but that'll do nicely. I'll change the bling bling stem and mudguards and summer's looking up.

Really nice to see a quality bike like your Bob Jackson Ed. So good its almost in poor taste. I admit I´m a bit stuck in the past but these older bikes often have that little extra bit of class.

I don't have a Bob Jackson, nor did I have a touring one, especially in this topic, Are you talking about Lucifer one?

He´ll be the owner, apologies.

I'm loving this today. Does anyone know who the bartape might be by?
I've asked the owner but no reply yet. -

I should mention the bike is from 1971 though the frame was apparently repaired and repainted by Mercian in winter 2009-1010. Bars are Cinelli Giro d'Italia (so prob tabe is cinelli in which case answered own question)
Is it cloth?

Does anybody know of any UK based collectors of Rene Herse, Alex Singer or similarly stunning British touring bikes?
Desperately trying to track down some jaw-dropping bikes for a cycle touring photo shoot in the UK...Thanks

About to finish my EG Bates, finally rebuilt as a tourer: new wide bars, a Tara lowrider rack (ugly modern but amazing), front Shim dyno hub/old school steel phil freewheel rear on Sputniks (can just fit 35s in to the frame, which are lush to ride), new lights, triple TA cyclotouriste 52/42/27, new campag long cage mech, 7 sp fw with massive range ... sticking with dt shifters for now, might end up using some barends I've got... So excited to have finally pulled my finger out and done this, ready for some wild stuff!

Sounds awesome, but needs pics.
I don't think the Tara looks that bad. But it would look a lot better if it was colour coded and you could have a (unnecessarily) long mudguard that reached all the way to the front section.

Yeah, think I know what you mean. The rack seems like a great piece of kit. I think you can get mudguards that have a long front, and have another stay to support a light there.
I'm on the hunt for a bottle cage that has that long back so you strap a 1.5l pop bottle onto it ... anyone know where I can find one?

Pics when I'm done, haven't finished yet hugo :)
A Hetchins inspired Bob Jackson? lovely as hell Lucy.
May not be a Classic British Touring bike, but it's defintely a Classic British Lightweight.
