I have had a few forrays into other callipers and now I am firmly a member of "groupset only, or shimano" club.
-
• #453
Same goes for cranksets
-
• #454
Or Rotor, right? ;-) unless I've misunderstood.
-
• #455
nope. Fuck Rotor. Fuck BB30. Fuck any proprietary nonsense.
Moving to Sram has been like a dream in many ways - the gxp bb's are so easy to fit and service - same goes for the cranks. Red cranks with praxxis rings feel stiffer than Rotors and the S-works cranks I had before with a minimal weight penalty.
-
• #456
Haha yeah, I am a fan of the ease of GXP I have to say...
-
• #457
^^ that's possibly because every Fairwheels crank shoutout Sram Red cranks come out as way stiffer then Rotor and Lightning (the S-works crank is essentially the same) cranks each test ..

Does anyone have a pic of Planet X Black Head Carbon Seat Post on a bike?
-
• #468
Not sure if this is the right place, but had some terrible experience with Planet X recently. Probably most furstrating online transaction, I had so far !!!
Bought a Columbus minimal 1" Carbon fork + Chris King 1" headset.
Before placing the order I gave them a call asking whether the above items were compatible and whether I would need anything else to built my bike.
They failed to mention that I would need an alternative puller since the CK comes with a starnut (not suitable for carbon fiber forks).
3 days after placing the order they came back with an email saying that they could not locate the silver CK headset in their warehouse and they asked me whether I wanted to replace with a black one.
Gave them a call asking if they could provide any alternatives in silver and when the CK silver would be back in stock. They responded that I had to go for the black or they could cancel my order and refund. They asked me to respond to the original email once I made up my mind.
I responded to the email saying that I would go for the black one.
A day latter still no shipping confirmation.
Gave them a call yet again! I asked whether my order was updated and shipped.
They responded that no one had seen my email as the person handling my case was doing reception for the day???
Asked them to update order and ship immediately!!!
They responded that since it was already Friday my order would probably have to wait until Monday.
Send an email explaining how frustrated I was asking them to post my order ASAP using courrier to make up for the whole delay.
Did not respond to this email at all.
Posted my order using regular (non courrier) service on Sunday!

sounds about right

Honestly, from my experience the sales personnel give the impression that they are demotivated and that they dont give a s....!
-
• #471
Again sound about right, they're cheap for a reason.
-
• #472
And as long as they sell what we need, we will be back for more :-) !
-
• #473
I've had pretty good experiences with their customer service recently... Email was slow but problem solved, phone was faster and I got a great deal on an upgrade to something out of stock.
Probably depends who you get on your case tbh. -
• #474
Looks good for the money...

The BeOne in Chain Reaction have a full 105 for £70 less, only in 54cm thought.
No. They are awful.
That said I used them the first time I did Flanders without dying. The modulation is ok, but they just don't have any bite when you say "ok, I would like to stop now" ... I stupidly sold the record callipers they replaced before trying them and bought another set 4 weeks later. An expensive mistake. Fuck. That.
