Right, so now what happens?
Liberal application of drink.
-
• #28
If that's the case then I'm voting for Obama. Pub, anyone?

Pedestrians seem in good mood today as result - some people walking to work with stars n stripes on their backs! Good work - wish I had one of those spoke cards. drivers not any nicer than normal though!

Liberal application of drink.
fucking liberals, it's their fault.

This is avery good thing but, like many good things in the past, it is not everything. Don't get your hopes too high or you will be sorely disappointed.
Indeed, let's hope it is a good thing. But remember that Obama is an American lawyer and you should never put too much hope in them. -
• #32
Anyone catch that speech.
He's no Tim Collins though, is he?
-

wonder if he knows how many states he will be in charge of come January?
(a couple of weeks back he saud that he had been to 57 states, one to go and that his campaign managers weren't allowing him to visist Alaska & Hawaii. 57+1+1+1=60!!)

The inauguration isn't until late January or February? so he's not quite president yet just guaranteed himself the spot. Look at the exit polls, all the people with guns didn't vote for Obama , I'd recon he'll need some heavy security.
Bushs' ratings are 1 point lower then Nixions' the day before he resigned at the moment and it was a case of anyone but them.
not relevent but a chance to show chappelle:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=P2qVVKRBGwwDave Chappelle is class:)
Do the Aussies still kiss Obama's arse or does that agreement end when Bush fscks off?
The aussies still have to kiss everyones arse you are like our poorer cousin who comes round at christmas that no-one talks to:)

@GA2G. white australia policy was only abolished yesterday (in relative terms compared the end of slavery in the US). dont hold your breath
im with cliveo on this. id be surprised if there is a massive change in terms of their stance in gun control, environ policies and international policing. he is inexperienced and would prob become a puppet for whatever corporation is behind him...then again, arent they all like that?!? do hope he'll be good for the poorer communities. human rights lawyer so that where i expect his focus would be
meh on the speach. they're all like US comedy sit-coms. heard before, know where it's going, know the ending, its' like i can finish the sentences for him. all a bit jerry bruckheimer to me.
anyway, im quite surprised with the result. i honestly thought, deep down most white americans are racists and conservative and would vote for mccain (true for the deep sth as results show?). times a changin

one of the graduates here just expressed dissappointment that mccain didn't win "because he's old and will die soon, then we'd have had that big titted milf running the world"
i for one am very happy today.

christmas it is and the fact that so many people voted is amazing.

I think I am going to resort to an emoticon (ignore the first colon): :)

+1 I remeber the party I was at when Blair got in, very emotional, full of hope......now I hate the cnut...he was similar (well, white) great orator, big promises etc.....I really hope Obama is different...don't expect troops out of Iraq before xmas 2009 though..
The biggest thing about this is that it's symbolic...

yeah, can you see obama next to gordo? jeez. where's our obama?!
-
• #47
i think all the comparisons to Blair/ New labour are perhaps a little unfair - american politics is a bit different to ours, it's 10 years later, and the Bush administration is proper evil, whereas John Major's lot were just corrupt and sleazy.
we'll see, of course, but let's not anything take away from the fact that bush has gone, and there's a black man in the white house.
it's worth celebrating.

Right, so now what happens?
nothing much. he'll be as bad as the last one (well nearly) people will still be living in poverty, the U.S will still be fighting wars, the financial crisis will deepen, America will still choose to be ignorant of climate change.
i think your optimism is likely to wane.i'ts not sour grapes on my part, i wish i had good reason for a different prediction.
