  • Slick!

  • head tube 72,5°, roadish

  • Steep angles were an affectation from the dying decades of steel frames as serious track irons, an era which ended more than 20 years ago. If you get the trail right, head angle is pretty irrelevant and anything in the 72°-75° range will work just fine on the track.

  • This is the drivetrain of the Van Dessel Drag Strip. Clearly they see benefit in it, but really, would it be worth it? I'm curious.

One other thing. Is the ARGON 18 classified as a proper track frame/bike (obviously the Electron Pro is)? There are 2 newer versions also. If so. I'll add them to the list.

It's worth it for Cane Creek if they can persuade enough mugs of the "benefits" of putting the nipples at the hub to recover their production costs.

  • Any views on the Milani Seigiorni? Wiggle have 30% off now. Yes, it's a brown bike but other than that it seems good. I've ridden Milani road bikes and remember them being quite aggressive and very stiff so sounds good for the track.

  • Cane Creek ceased all wheel production now but I got a pair of the Velocity rimmed track tubs cheap from Condor sale couple of years ago. The bearings are really low drag and they do spin up nicely but I've not yet found a 3/32 spanner that fits those nips. Touch wood they've stayed true though.

  • canyon v-drome al

available in 2 complete bike versions and as frameset

    http://www.canyon.com/_uk/roadbikes/series/v-drome-al.html

Has anyone ridden one of these yet or found any independent reviews? Google is bringing up sweet FA apart from some bike show reports and what's on the Canyon website.

I've been thinking about getting one of these as a frameset in May, but wouldn't mind hearing someone elses opinion before I jump in.

TBH, I'm 95% certain that this is what I'm going to go for, especially after finding out about this: http://www.canyon.com/_uk/service/sponsoring.html . Basically a hefty discount on any Canyon frame on production of a valid racing licence - works out about a £180 reduction - but still wouldn't mind hearing what people think of them.

  • Don't know about their track bike, but I have one of their road bikes and it's awesome. They have hugely discounted sales in the summer as well.

  • Has anyone any info on the Nelson? Is it available elsewhere under a different name?
    (I want one)

  • I think they were marketed as 'The Frame Formerly Known As Rogers Nelson' at one point, followed by a brief dabble with a graphic icon rather than text-based decals.

The quality's dropped terribly since about 1988 anyway.

  • There's only one in my size... I don't get "paid" until a bit later in the year and I read that Nelson might be going into retirement.

I'm after something like that, that I can use instead of the rolled in glitter bob that I have. Is there something else out there, similarly priced?
    Felt?

These new track framesets have been built to our specification by top Taiwanese manufacturers

They are suitable for use on the Velodromes at both Manchester & Newport.

The above quote was taken directly from the Cyclebasket (Nelson) sales page.

So you are calling Taiwan, "Nelson", and you think Taiwanese manufacturers may retire. Jesus H Motorcycling Christ.

No wonder I have stopped participating as much on this forum.

  • Not sure how you got that he is saying that?

Think he means the Nelson brand may be disappearing - no doubt the same frame will soldier on with different stickers

If there's a wrong end of a stick to be grabbed with both hands, we can always rely on you to do it with gusto. :-)

  • It is not my fault that people who went to school, and where taught correct English, chose to spend their time dreaming of caterpillars smoking a hookah, atop a mushroom. I paid attention, obviously.

Grammar. It is so simple, yet the great unwashed abuse it into oblivion.

  • I think Damo's academic qualifications will take some beating, so he must've spent some time at school paying attention.

I was extremely reluctant to say that the comment was at best, stupid, and at worst, deranged. So I couched my dismay in sarcasm.

  • Anyway, I think this is a comprehension fail, rather than a writing fail.

  • I think Damo's academic qualifications will take some beating, so he must've spent some time at school paying attention.

And I went to school with a maths genius, who disproved maths texts books, when still in primary school. His grasp of finer English was his downfall academically. Ipsofacto, one may be academically excellent, and yet still not be as powerful with English.

We all have some cross to bear. Now where's Tynan?

No. I know that Nelson track frames are kinesium. And are Taiwanese made.
    I saw this page:

Oh look. What's that on the comment?

The proprietor of Nelson has retired so if one wants to buy one, hurry up! 60cm size is already out of stock.

I have never said "Taiwanese bike frame manufacturer may retire".

    JESUS SHITTING CHRIST.
I made the connection that "Nelson cycles going out of retirement, won't be restocking when they're gone"

    YOU FUCKING IMBECILE.

There's one in my size, I can't afford it YET, I wondered if anyone knew of anything similar.

    Spelling mistakes are worse.

  • they are good... Buy one.
I'm only contemplating selling mine because I am over riding fixed on the road.

  • Now where's Tynan?

    He's in bed. It's 10 o' clock.
