  • any good?

    good.

  • Currently riding on a Prologo Scratch Pro which I'm slowly getting on well with, however it's pretty stiff and would like to have a bit more flex in them (carbon seatpost coming as well).

Does anyone have the Scratch Pro Nack that claim to be more flexible than the standard SP? it's a huge amount of money and would like to get some feedback before buying them to try it out.

  • Dunno.

There was loads of yellow leather dye on Ebay.

Just seemed a bad idea for something I will sit on?

Tried that when i wanted a green slr. Worked great for a couple of days..
Ruined a pair of jeans and some bike shorts. Perhaps i was unlucky but just not worth it imo.
    ...

I like smps, pitty they are ugly tho they do grow on you after a while, i think.

  • Ok, feeling disheartened by the lack of Romin saddles out there for less than £60.

Does anyone have any experience with the Planet X Superlight Team Saddle? Is it a flatter saddle as opposed to a rounder one?

  • using a wtb devo, was using a brooks, but kept getting numb balls is not a good feeling..

Any colour that's added to leather is going to stain your clothing sooner or later; there's a good reason why the traditional colour for cycling shorts is black. Conversely, pale/white saddles will be stained blue-green by new jeans. If you want to ride a leather saddle, you simply have to take this into account.

They are copies of the Fizik Arione. If you need a 143 Romin, an Arione copy probably isn't going to work for you - you need something a bit wider, and probably with a channel...

  • Nath, I've got a carbon Fizik Antares saddle I bought from Nick and rode a few times before deciding it was not right for me - if you get on with flatter saddles it might work for you?

  • You're a Romin fan too, right? Prob won't be any good for me either...

    Thanks though!

  • I think i've come to the conclusion that SLRs are too wide for me. Also would like something with slightly more curved sides?

    Anyone got any suggestions?

  • Have you tried the new SLRs (2012-?). The sides are less sharp. Maybe San Marco Aspide is worth a go too...

  • Does anyone know whether the "flow" selle italia's make a difference?

Spam from Ribble got me interested: http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/road-track-bike/selle-italia-selle-italia-saddles-road-selle-italia-flite-flow-saddle/sellsadd278

My prefered shape is the flite, although I'm running a strippped SLR, which is fine as long as I'm wearing bibs. But marketing and the fear of impotence as I get older

  • I still haven't ridden mine properly yet Hugo, I will let you know how it compares. First impression is pretty good - it's more different from an old-school Flite than, say, the Regal-e is from a Regal. It's flatter and the sweet spot is maybe a bit further back. Definitely prefer it to an SLR already but need to see how it is on a longer ride. I don't like how flexy the shells are on the modern Selle Italias I've tried.

  • Superflows make a big difference. I've never tried the regular flows, but I reckon from the look of them they're more a token gesture; not as effective as the supers or the Specialized offerings.

What I want to know is what accounts for the price difference between the SLR Superflow and Maxflow. I have a Super, am happy with it and want another for another bike, but reluctant to spend the cash. But saying that, the Max is expensive enough that I don't want to waste the money on one if it's not as effective.

Edit: Looking at SI's site, the difference is the Supers have a little more carbon in the shell, Ti rails and less padding. ~55g difference. I'd ordinarily just go for the Max, but it's for my weight weenie bike...bah.

  • Fuck me Selle Italia have a lot of saddles.

This is pretty much why I've more or less just stuck with the saddles I don't have a problem with. I just give up having to look through the choices.

  • The 2013 SLR Flow has a cutout that's quite a lot larger than the Flows up to now (and the 2013 Team Edition Flow, confusingly). Not quite as big as the Superflow though.

  • Cheers for the tips.

So from the looks of it SLR Superflows are wider than normal SLRs... sort of making them look a bit more like a Flite fit.

God I wish I had the money to have a caste made of my arse and then just employ a team of people to go and find me a saddle. Still I guess I'm lucky that I have a few saddles I get on with.

    EDIT: it's the "145" that's wider.

  • Yeah, the 130mm is the same as the standard SLRs, I think.

Off now to Google to see how cheaply I can get one of these new 'big hole' regular 2013 regular Flows...

  • The flow makes a really noticeable difference IMO if you suffer with numbness from pressure.

The shell is definitely a bit flexy in the middle for my liking, although otherwise it's pretty comfortable. It doesn't feel that much like a Flite but it is noticeably wider at the back than an SLR (which I like).

  • Cheers.

Although I think for now I'll have to wait until they start to drift into ebay and the forum classifieds.

  • I might part with it sooner (while it still looks new) rather than later to be honest. If you were interested in a white one.

Li'l bit of air-con for the gooch, too.

  • suffered with perennial numbness on a charge knife.
spent £80 (ooof) on a specialized romin evo expert.
highly recommend. really has changed bike riding for me.
