  • That looks promising ^

What saddle is this ^ am interested to try one...

  • Zoncolan. If you collect it off me I'll lend you mine for a week.

  • Appreciate the offer but I'm up in Leeds so it's a bit of a way.

    How do you find it?

  • Very round on top and narrow. Too narrow really. Hurts balls after 50 mile.

  • You have vulnerable balls

  • I have vulnerable balls.... I thought looking at it the shape was broadish and might flex a bit in the middle to aid comfort... got it pretty wrong from the sound of things! Cheers.

  • Romin

  • I've sworn by the Romin and have shelled out a bomb getting them for all my bikes. Been building up my new road bike though and fancied something a bit different (shamefully, I was swayed by what looked good on the bike, rather than what I knew my arse liked). Got a Prologo Nago Evo and although I haven't been out on the road with it yet, I've done a few 2 hour sessions on the rollers and found it amazing.

I'm happy with the Romin (143mm) on the road, but when I'm on the rollers where I can't stand, move aroud on the bike or releive any weight from my gooch, I'm usually uncomfortable after 40 mins and suffering after 70. Given this, I reckon on the road the Nago could be my best yet. Feels narrow, but sits under the sit bones perfectly and it seems to vanish just in front of them so I can't feel the middle and nose at all.

I was worried about the lack of nob channel because I've always had serious problems from numb nuts/dick and have been drawn to the saddles that look obviously to address this (Romin/SMP/SLC above etc), but it's actually really good. The little notch at the back and the softened centre part of the shell really seem to do the trick.

  • are there any leather/leather looking saddles out there with a modern, ergonomic design? I need something for the new bike, was simply going to put the brown leather Spoon on that as it seems to agree with my bum. I'm strongly tempted by the more classic retro leather saddles with all the oversized rivets but with trying one on a ride not convinced I'd enjoy riding of them. Plus a colleague of mine blames excessive gooch wear in his Swrve shorts on dem dere rivets

I do actually hanker after the Romin, but I don't think Spesh do it in faux-leather

  • I think you'll be struggling to find a decent saddle that meets that spec - What about just going with a brooks - or a black romin would not detract from the appearance of most bikes...

  • I need a test drive though really, I settled on WTB when I was riding MTBs, and so far the I find the Spoon comfortable, not sure where to go next

If I did go for the black Romin, it would be the only black on the bike apart from the hoods

  • could you mix a white saddle and brown leather bar tape?

  • The Regal-e Urban Performance is coming out in a brown leather version this year. I'm after the black suede version, myself, but it is a proper modern saddle, c.240g, etc.

I love the Romin, but I love the Regal-e even more, so it might agree with you too.

    Reminds me of:

(Used to love that car.) Question for anyone who has experienced both the Fizik Arione and the Planet X saddle - they look similar, do they feel similar as well? I get on with the PX but the Arione will be far more aesthetically pleasing for a build I have in mind.

  • That Regal looks spot on, when is it due? Maybe a Charge Spoon in the interim, then the Regal

    No.

    Succint and to the point

  • Not sure I'm afraid. I don't think it should be long - whenever 2012 stock starts arriving in the UK I guess. It's been on the San Marco site for ages.

  • So I've got a feeling (quite literally) that my planet x super light has lost It's shape, it doesn't seem as comfortable, I'm either sliding off the front of hurting my crown jewels.

Is it normal for saddles to sag/ lose their shape?

  • I've got a rolls on the fixie and rigid mtb and a San marco Ponza on the road bike

does happen, especially with cheaper ones. Some people like them a bit worn in some people hate it.

  • I think it may have happened to mine then, hmm off to buy a new saddle I think.

  • I think it's quite common for those Planet-X saddles, you get what you pay for.

I wasn't aware of it happening to the planet x saddles. May try something different next then.

  • just get an Arione - it's what the PX ones are based on (copied from)

  • just get an Arione - it's what the PX ones are based on (copied from)

This is what I've just done - not because my PX saddle has lost its shape, because it hasn't in over 5,000 miles and I still love it, but because it's got Planet X written all over it, which just won't do for my new, tasteful build. :)
