I'm pretty sure I've qualified in the past for ride-induced exhaustion. It does NOT help me fall asleep.
I sit there all achy and hungry for hours but still buzzed from the ride. My feet twitch, etc. It's as annoying as hell.
Me every Wednesday night during the summer after track league. Hot chocolate or a sachet of Nocte seemed to help

not insomnia tonight, just trying to wash elephant and Castles sewer freshness out of my skin, seriously if you live in elephant and castle. STOP POURING FAT DOWN THE SINK IT BLOCKS UP THE SEWERS. I have waded waste deep in human waste before but tonight topped that and I was a little bit sick in my mouth it was that bad. Anyway the smell even after 2 showers is still around enough to keep me awake so I am getting back in the shower for one final scrub.

does anyone have any good advice:
I've been suffering badly recently, and now literally can't focus on anything much.
I've always had attention deficit issues but at the moment it is really taking a toll on my work, which I need to get done, and is causing a cycle of stress which i can't get out of.
Normally a public forum wouldn't be a place I'd ask but it is getting out of control.Interestingly Nytol, which is nothing much tbh- seemed to knock me out fully, but had the bad side effect of allowing me to sleep through a whole day, through alarms and then when I woke at 4pm, being drowsy beyond belief, and again that led to another sleepless night.
I'm used to getting little sleep, but usually due to getting up early, not sleeping late.
edit on the plus side, that bright times thread is excellent.

Are you sleepy in the morning when you have to get up?
-
• #82
yes, and much worse I'm totally out of it all day.

I need one lay in per week (till about 9am). As long as that happens I can happily stay up till around 3am and then wake up around 7am.

eyebrows, fazered posted some good advice above. I've never considered myself an insomniac but when I'm under stress my sleep is the first thing to go.
I guess you need to work out whether your inability to sleep is caused by something environmental, emotional, or physiological.
what works for me:
- routine
- radio 4 (need a sleep function on the radio so it turns off after an hour)
- writing things down if thoughts and ideas keep me awake
- sex (twins = better)
- warm milk
- meditation (night) / yoga (daytime).
- routine

i now work in the evening til 2:30ish. its a pub/bar so i either stay there hanging out drinking and smoking for a bit, or i go round my mates house, which is next door. where i hang out, drink, and smoke. i dont normally get home til 4:00 but somehow manage to get up at 10:00 and spend all day job hunting and riding.
its not exactly a normal routine, but my insomnia isnt a problem in my life anymore. i dont know how well i would deal with a daytime job but im happy for the moment. i found my life at uni very stressful, and im much happier where i am now, which i think helps too. my old problem was that i didnt want to get out of bed, so would miss the day and not want to sleep at night.
an unrealistic part of my brain wants to give up job hunting and train/learn to become a framebuilder. in reality i need a better job so i can move out.

Its been a while since I posted in here.
After the crash, I've had interesting sleep patterns, but recently quite fitful, short sleep.
not more than a coupla hours a night.
Went to Neurologist today as I was beginning to start planning a mass destructive raid on my lab, and explained all my symptoms.Anyway, long story short I'm on [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amitriptyline]Amitriptyline[/ame] now, so we'll see how it works out for me.
Anti Depressants FTW!
(that may be my first use of the phrase I hate so much)Just thought I'd check in.
and for all you insomniacs: Trysil Twin Tip and Incredibots.
Search and enjoy. -
