I've had no caffeine since 6pm.
I'm drinking milk, and at midnight everything is going off and I'm going to lie down and try and sleep.
If I still have grief - I'm going to get some Nytol or Kalms or something.Why switch everything off at midnight? Lie in bed with a book now, read for 20min and then switch off..

if you're still awake and in london its stopped raining like here in oxford, go for a ride.
night time riding is stunning. I just had the whole of Oxford all to myself.
and it was all ghost lit through fog and full (ish) moon.
unbelievable- had such a shit day too- lab etc, so happy now.
If its like this tomorrow, i'm taking a camera, and heading off for a longer ride. -

Well, better than I thought. I think I tossed and turned for a while. The last time I looked at the clock it was 2am. Up at about 9.30.
I still feel tired, but I'm hoping that this makes it easier to sleep tonight.

I am averaging 2 and a half hours sleep a night at the moment due to a deadline. I usually get around 4-5 hours a night.

Only use your bedroom for sleep. DO NOT use a laptop or read/chat in bed. Go straight in and go to bed and turn off the light. Try to sleep without any methods (thinking about it of course makes it worse) if you are having trouble try one of the many methods to entertain the active part of the brain. Counting backwards in multiples of 3, 4 and 7 are good. Or say a word over and over in your head. Plenty of other suggestions online.
If you can't sleep after 25 minutes get up. Without making any fuss go to another room, sit in a comfortable chair and read a book. Best with a small light behind you. After 20 mins or when you feel tired go and try again. On bad night you may have to repeat a few times.
Avoid coffee and coke and stimulants entirely when you are having a bad period of insomnia. Make sure you stick to a pattern as much as possible. Go to bed at the same time. Get up at the same time, even if you are still really tired or only just got to sleep. Don't nap later than 2-3pm.
