Sounds stupid. But slow down. It only takes a bit too much speed on a desent, and you'll beat the windproofing and chill your fingers. Once cold its near impossible to work heat back into them.

First saying racks are some times a good idea on the he bike packing and thread, now saying to slow down. Disappointed Sensiblefurry

^^ Makes sense. That might explain why I'm suffering and everyone around me seems to arrive with sweaty hands...

Ha.
I will be running through steep mountain woods, in the pitch black, at -6C, tonight. With only a £6 headtorch, and Rammstein, to keep me company.

Well if you must go fast. Split a 1Litre soda bottle in two and zip-tie them to your bars as wind shields.
Or you could try a better solution for wetter days...

Top one looks like a Ti Fatback. Lols.

Catch 22 though, windshields keep hands warm if travelling faster, but also act as parachutes preventing reaching said speeds.

Use pointy ladies wellies.
Are you saying my suibtle pogies wont be aero? I am disapoint.

Its a step in the right direction, although I feel carbon with dimpled surface would be more appropriate. After all, it is proven technology

We could continue this 'weather proofing with aero benefits' discussion for some time. But to save the forum from more of my boring posts.

Make sense, I'll have to try and reduced my speed on the Côté Sud Clapham Common.

Got into work and my fingers pretty much snapped clean off, think 35mph on Whitechapel this morning might have been a contributing factor to this.

Still warm after 3 hours today.
Being said, took my gloves off to get some post ride food and once cold they stayed cold.
Never take your gloves off, they won't re heat your hands. Just keep them from getting cold z -

My cheapo Planet X gloves kept my fingers reasonably warm for 6 hours today at 0 degrees. They still haven't seen much rain though so I don't know how waterproof they'll be.

My Sealskins worn over running gloves allowed just the tips of my index finger to get cold today.

Solid advice this. Rode a bit slower than usual today and my fingers were a lot warmer, despite it being colder than yesterday.

I'd say ride faster. Get your heart going and your hands will be toasty.
-
• #820
Not true. I can be super toasty hot over my whole body, but my toes and fingers will still be cold. Or maybe its just poor circulation.

This is wrong.
There are no muscles in your hands. They do not generate heat through exercise.
-
• #822
Heart pumping faster, more blood, warmer blood from increased body heat.
-
• #823
Nah, I was toasty all over apart from my hands today- merino liners in the same Goretex gloves that you have.
Stopped, got a coffee from Monmouth, continued at a slower pace and they warmed up again.

If your vital organs are warm enough, then your body will let warm blood go out to the extremities. Otherwise it will hold that warm blood in the core, leaving your fingers, toes and nose cold

unless you have raynaud's :)
And how about today?everyone still toasty warm? Even my craft lobster gloves were struggling today...
