  • they are quite warm, but I find them a little thick

Sorry, who were we talking about?

  • I just took delivery of a pair of these and they are nice, too warm for the current weather but wind and water proof and they look like cycle gloves, not like ski mittens.

i have last years version of these, very good in wet and wind, extremely frosty morning they struggle sometimes. but overall pretty good.

  • I bought Sealskins last winter. I found them no good, I ended up taking them back to the shop.

They're really warm but I think my hands must be a sized exactly between Small and Medium because neither fitted properly.

I found some of these on sale for £5. They're really good. Thin, fit great, warm enough unless it's approaching sub-zero and grippy.

  • what are they???

  • Murtle, Scott uses those and swears by them.

I use a pair of these, which used to come with a core layer too, basically two pairs of gloves for the price of one. Beautiful in the snow.

what are these???? are they sub-zero proof. i find that each year i get a new pair of gloves and each year they're ok, until the temp drops and the wind picks up. then i (literally one time) start weeping from the cold. I've even worn my socks under my gloves once, so cold was the icy blast... that was comin' out of brixton on vauxhall road, or something. so this year i've vowed to find one pair that does the job. could this be the pair?

  • was also thinking of trying a pair of these

Try some silk liner gloves - you can get them for about a fiver from Decathlon or whatever.

Turn any pair of gloves into sub-zero mitts.

  • I thought you were vegen BringMeMyMidget?

  • I thought you were vegen BringMeMyMidget?

    No, just veggie.

  • Decathlon's road comp winter gloves were fucking ace. Kept your hands warmer than those shitty Altura Thinsulate waterproof thermal gloves on a really cold day. Weren't too hot to wear on a warm day. I just wish I bought more than one pair because I lost the one pair that I bought.

I have a pair too. The older ones were better (the cuff design went under jacket sleeves more easily), but they soak up water like a bastard when they get wet and then your hands freeze.
I've got some of the new DHB waterproof gloves from Wiggle. They seem OK.

For real winter I have the Specialized ones Object posted. However, they've disappeared from the Evans and Wiggle websites, so they don't seem to be available any more. They are however good for pouring rain and sub-zero conditions.

Do it. I had a pair of really expensive goretex gloves and these last winter. The goretex ones diead and weren't anywhere near as windproof as they were meant to be. These gloves, however, still look brand new.

The problem with such toasty hands is that you notice your cold wet feet more.

  • I've been trying to get hold of some of these for a while but it looks like they've been discontinued :-(

    edit: I need medium - they're called Sidi Ghibli's

  • i use these. very warm. they only come out when temps drop under 5degC. tight fitting...which i like. some winter gloves look like they're made for snowboarding.

  • Ribble don't have the mediums though murtle.

  • Ribble don't have the mediums though murtle.

where Small on one hand and Large on the other - sorted!

  • I don't mind paying €24 for gloves, but I'm not paying another €29 on top to have them delivered to me.

repped for that jonny - comedy gold!
