Assos winter gloves lasted less than 3 weeks, literally just started falling apart.
Now using some Chiba Drystar gloves - allegedly waterproof but we have been lacking in rain. Have been ok in current cold climate.

Decathlon silk glove liners with Seal Skinz waterproof gloves=no temperature change to hands during commute, tug the heavier outer glove off and the silk liners are thin enough to enable sorting out your change to pay for your coffee.
Winner.

I too have some decathlon liners.. they're awesome

Without the liners those Seal Skinz gloves are actually very cold- far too cold to wear in this weather.
WIth the liners they are spot on.

does anyone know where i can buy the seal skins merino liners (or similar) in Central or SW London? need them asap for snow trip this weekend. Also actually need new winter gloves proper but willing to live with what i got in the hope that some good liners will make them warm enough.
any other tips to winter/ski/snowboard shops in London that have good glove range, and preferably some Jan sales would also be super.
thanks in advance...?

Decathlon do silk liners for about 5 or 6 quid.

I have the Pro Team Gels. OK down to about 0 on their own. If you're going to use with liners, be aware they are sized very snug and you'll need to do up a size from your usual.

I may have cracked the winter glove conundrum. I have purchased these!
http://www.hainesmc.co.uk/halvarssons_motorcycle_wear/road_apparel/road_gloves/jox_2-finger_gloves/
Will report on their performance. If they dont work with my merino liners. I will have to go down the heated route.

Has anyone used the Rapha winter gloves?
Yes, i've been using them this autumn/winter. They are nice, if a little pricey. Padded in the right places, very light and comfy gloves (if a little short on the wrist) Worse thing is, they let the biting winds in on the tips of fingers, which is a bit of a flaw for "winter" gloves. Bonus is you can pretty much do anything with out taking them off every 5 minutes. I bought them cheap, they are a bit bobbled now, but i reckon i would buy another pair, especially if they were in the sale. They serve a purpose, but i use my Lobster mitts for very cold weather.

I use these mothers on really cold days
But it has to be freezing or hands are just too hot. Not cycling gloves but I've got them for winter racing and they double up nicely. -

Nice one, if you added a silk/merino liner do you think they could cope with temps 0 - 5?

I would guess so, I don't have any liners to try. They are a pretty thin and close fitting glove, adding liners might affect your sizing. They do hold their shape and fit suprisingly well though. Like I say, i have only had issues with the tips of my fingers and that was in that cold spell before christmas. I might try the liner option myself if it gets colder again this season, as i do like the fact they don't restrict any hand movement, grip, etc.

I just changed back to fingerless mitts. Summer, it's a state of mind.
