just got a set and done 2 trips with them.
loving the knuckleduster protection.
warm enough for my ride.
very short on the cuff, a little breeze seems to sneak through but is ok if you sort your cuffs.
seem tough, good leather, goretex lined. pretty happy.
oh and the price, bargain. -

You existing glove would need to be, big enough, water proof, and windproof. Otherwise the addition of more layers is'nt that effective.

in searching i found these, Specialized Sub Zero. £20, for 2 gloves; outer (windproof and waterproof) and liner, both of which you can use individually in need be.
Seems to have pretty decent reviews.http://www.cyclestore.co.uk/productDetails.asp?productID=17463
just ordered a pair, will let you know how they are, pretty good deal.
Thanks for the link Dylan, mine arrived today. Fuckin' beefy!
Looks like they only have small left now. I usually take a medium and according to their size guide I chose a small (they had also run out of med...) and they're not too tight/loose and damn cosy.

If you can find these Kinco 901 leather Ski gloves- they are amazing- fleece lined leather mitts, offer massive control over the controls, good grip, and they are durable as fuck, and cheaper than most things.
We used them as Ski Patrollers and I love mine to pieces. need to buy some more soon. -

funny you mention that, i was looking for something very similar initially, because i had a pair similar, with fleece/furry lining and they were excellent.
But couldn't find what i wanted after searching and these Kinco 901's, which look excellent "gloves for life" (as long as you don't lose them) don't look available much if at all in the UK :([ame="http://www.amazon.com/Go-Gloves-Kinco-Ski-L/dp/B0013FE6PG/%20ref=nosim/kkorg-20"]Amazon have them though[/ame]

yeah, that does seem to be a problem, will try contacting a friend on a hill in NZ to see if he can send me a few pairs.
i love them.
they need an initial proofing, but they're damn good. -

Santa will be bringing me some Prendas windtex gloves.. Anyone got any experience of them?
-
• #438
i bought a pair of what seem to be their last model of them and i found them shocking.
these ones.
http://www.prendas.co.uk/details.asp?typ=mfc&fkid=11&ID=2558
too hot when the temperature is about 10-12 degrees c and then useless if it drops below 2.
no liner or insulation.
they fit well so i guess they have a plus point.
only 12 quid so not too fussed but i wouldn't rate them.
sorry, not what you want to hear! -

no worries, any feedback is good to know.
I've already got some inner gloves so they'll help if they're not the most cold resistant. Hopefully the ones I got are an upgrade on older/cheaper ones you got.

they have become my winter walkabout gloves.
should be ok with liners.
and yes they seem to have been upgraded. -

I was looking for something like those for ages and ended up buying those Marmots instead. Now I have a brand and model number to aid my search so thank-you :-)
Also +1 on leather. Fucking awesome stuff.

Old Motorcyclists tip - wear latex gloves under your proper gloves
-
• #444
kinky buggers..
inner gloves are pretty cheap and probably more resiliant that latex ones.

latex.
these are better.

I honestly think, all this talk of big padded fluffy warm gloves is ridiculous.
I'm gonna come across a bit Scobley here, but if you don't have particularly sensitive skin on your hands, regular fingerless riding gloves work fine in winter.
Sure you'll have horrifically cold and painful fingers during the first 10 minutes, but I find soon after this, my hands just adjust to the cold and feel fine for the rest of the day.
I only ever really feel it if I've been standing around outside for hours after work before riding home, but then it's only for a few minutes.
I'm also a cycle courier and hate wearing full finger gloves at work, can't stand taking them off all the time just to get a signature or have a ciggie.
HTFU, London. Fingerless gloves in the snow have been fine for me.

there are full finger gloves with retractable fingers made specifically so that you wouldn't have to keep taking them off all the time.
believe it or not but some pople would rather not have 'horrifically cold and painful fingers' for even a measly 10 minutes.

Altura used to make a very good glove used by the police. Will look up.

Ha, I suppose. :-)
I prefer to just put on the pair I'm wearing for the day and forget about it. Would rather grin and bear the pain for a few minutes than spend the whole day fiddling with 'retractable fingers' or full-finger, padded nightmares.

I has a new favourite Adjective
Not really winter, more like all-season budget gloves, but I suffer from superhothandsallthetime, so it's fine for me.
Shame I bought it Large, when in fact I need X-Large. They retail for £6.99 on the bay.
I already bought the XL so I'm letting these go for a fiver (sorry but I won't start a thread for this...), just drop me a PM please. Cheers.
Anyone?
*(They were open and tried, and wrapped again. Never used)
