after getting proper soaked in sealskinz all-weather gloves at the weekend, thinking more and more that neoprene is the way to go... at least that way I'll be warm right? or is that a myth?
-
• #1228
nope, it's not a myth, sweaty but warm.
buy these (they're really good, I love mine...but sweaty and fit tight so consider upsizing) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5mm-Neoprene-Gloves-Diving-Watersports-Swimming-Jet-Skiing-Snorkelling-/261228701816 , at least if you don't like them you've only wasted £10. here's a weird video of someone putting on gloves

Your fingers will look like raisins after but they will be warm.
-
• #1230
And have to turn them inside out to dry it, but damn they're very toasty if damp.

• #1231
very smelly much warmth

Yeah it's true though, got absolutely soaked a couple of days ago. Everything was wet (no euph) but my hands were super toasty, despite, as Dan said, looking like raisins. Castelli Diluvio's tick all the boxes. I wear my Defeet's until it starts to get cold and then just swap over into the Castelli's when it's really cold/wet.

Issue with the neoprene gloves is if you have to take them off mid ride, then put them back on again. Minging.

How's the Castelli Diluvio over the Endura Nemo? the latter build quality isn't up to task despite being very comfortable with no padding and noticeable seam..

Ed see what I said about defeet dura wool above? Good even in the rain!
and I have b-twin from decathlon neoprene. Can't fault them, but not had heavy use.

Ordered it already, will give it a bell (DeFeet).

I've tried the wetsuit variety made by Castelli. Yes, quite sweaty and not so comfy. I've got some nice early winter gloves made by Assos and they work well. You only need some merinos underneath when it gets really cold.

I had silk liners under my Defeet Duras for a relatively long one today. Had to take them all off before the end. Completed my circuit bare handed, before returning to the house, putting the lead away and giving the dog a biscuit. Same set up last night was too cold. Bloody climate change.

How do you rate those DHB liners Amey? I got a pair for christmas. Seams on the inside though...

Not necessary a bad thing, but very much a personal preference, give it a whir.

I dropped a glove in a hurry to catch my xmas train... If anyone has a spare pair of medium size winter warmers to sell then please let me know. Grrrrr, no pair of gloves has lasted me two winters!

So far the Altura Waterproof have been good. I bought XXL because I was tired of punching the ends out of fingers on my old gloves. They're roomy and have a bit of excess material but they're warmer than my other gloves which is nice. They stay a bit damp between ride - I don't keep them anywhere near heat. Not taken them into a full soaking yet. Time will tell.

Altura waterproofs are great, they're what i lost. : (
Guess it'll have to be a trip to Evans with one cold hand once i'm off the train tomorrow... -

I find that combination pretty good; rode at -0.8°* yesterday and hands were doing good, not freezing or toasty, just perfect. The only issue with neoprene gloves is lack of breath-ability but I dont mind.

I fucking love the nemo, beautifully toasty on the 13 miles headwind.

Shame the stitching is so harsh on the nemo's - especially when your hands go soft after being wet for hours.

Suck to be your hand Dan.

Ur..
De feet dura wool are amazeballs.
Worn the out the last few days, started to rain, kept them on, hands stay fairly dry and warm. Didn't bother to swap into my neoprene gloves. Wools did a super job.
Great gloves and good down to a couple of degrees.
