Do you have some special kind of temperature weighing scale?
Yes, I call it a "thermometer".
I have one that tells you the temperature outside, and inside, on the same display so you can accurately gauge how unpleasant a shock you are going to receive when leaving the house.

They're okay. But the grip on fingers is bad, slipped of the gear paddle a few times.
Only warm to 7 degrees too. But good gloves. For mild tempsI hate slippery gloves - my ye olde Tuffs from Oz are so ancient the rubber finger pads have hardened making the levers annoying to grab, especially in the wet. I failed to pull the trigger on my Wiggle order anyway. Maybe those Altura instead..

I've not noticed bad grip at all - in fact they are surprisingly good.
Mine also survived an off pretty well last week - not holes or damage that I can see. Wish I could say the same for my leg and oversocks.
The only problem i've had is that they can get a bit baggy after a few longer rides - all back to normal after a wash though (I know hippy.. but you can wash stuff). Not great when wet but breathe really well and for £12 they make a pretty awesome all purpose glove for anything down to about 5 degrees.

In all seriousness I actually want one of those, would you recommend yours?
My Dad has one (which is how I found out about them) but you can't buy his one now.

I also would like one of these thermometers as part of my new "measure all of the things" approach to life.
My fingers and toes are still cold from the ride in :(

I cant believe you folk are expressing a wish for one of these naff gadgets. Especially before Xmas. I have 2, neither of which is nearly as reliable, as the old school thermometers mounted outside so you can see them through the window. Of these we have 3. I either side of the house and one upstairs. The upstairs one is well useful for when youre digging out clothes for he kids.

Mine has a probe which you chuck out the window, then shut said window on the wire.
I think it's pretty accurate, I've checked it against another thermometer and the readings were consistent.
Being a luddite I would prefer a big, glass and mercury type affair but living in a first floor flat it would be hard to mount that at window height without attracting comment.

Best paired with an anemometer so you can check wind speed prior to departure.
Oh and a weathercock

I did have a thermometer with a wireless sender unit that lived outside- until the wind blew it away, giving me a clue that it was "very windy".

I have one of these.
I never look at it except on the occasions I return from a ride almost dead and go "oh, so that's why I couldn't feel my entire body".

This is a good point. I have an outdoors where I could put a thermometer. Hmm. Time to have look on ebay for a nice old school one...

^^ Dammit where does that 1.4 degrees figure come from? I had no idea it was that cold this morning, I left not long after you and thought it was about 6.

My hands were super toasty in my Pearl Izumi Barrier gloves as usual, they're so good I'm thinking of buying another pair to put in a cupboard because I don't know what I'd do without them.
