So i seem to have developed a habit of losing the left hand glove of might lighter winter gloves. My previous Giro gloves were reasonably warm but didn't have the best build quality (all the decals and rubber do dabs glued on all fell off, but the stitching etc was ok)
I battled on with short fingers as its not time for me to trot out the fox anti-freeze yet, but tonight I caved in and bought some spechlized elemet 1.5.
So far so good, i'm liking the long cuffs and the touch screen friendly finger tips, whilst a nice touch, is rather poorly executed as the placement is too far town the fingers.

Left hand starting to tingle this morning in my Rapha gloves.

merino or silk liners, which would make more difference?
-
• #1032
I've gone from silk to merino and notice no difference in performance.
Was cold this morning and thinking that merino liners/Assos 851 gloves aren't cutting it any more and tomorrow may see this autumn/winter's first use of the Specialized Sub-Zero lobster claw being added on top.

Tried those spesh gloves on today in Evans - looked nice but not nice enough for 40 quid.
Did manage to get a pair of endura neoprene gloves for 25, for really rainy days. Some frayed stitching by the time I got home :(

I bought some seal skinz expecting great things, fall at the first hurdle because the lining is not attached to the inner or outer of the glove, so everything squirms around. Maybe ok for the super wet commute but they're not comfy enough to use all the time, and they're not even that warm...
I've mainly been using neoprene ish cheap on one gloves, that are falling to pieces but generally warm enough down to around 5°. Got some of the aldi winter gloves this time round which are about twice as thick as last years, expecting toastie fingers with them...

Those seal skins gloves are terrible - any glove with a floating liner can GTFO.
The waterproof treated merino gloves they make look good though.
Still after some gore countdowns for general winter use.

I agree, it got some nice feature that made for comfortable riding on a road bike, but the stitching quality on the inside is a tad annoying.

I have to admit that at £40 they are pricey, but I already knew that the pads work well with my dodgy wrist from riding with my BG pro shorties, when I rode with unpadded gloves i ended up getting tingling all my my arm.
-

I don't just like padded gloves really - stop you being able to feel anything.
Know what you mean re: stitching Ed, I could feel the seam on the index finger rubbing against the exact point I use on the shifter paddle. -

Exactly that (in general), they're not that padded which is why I liked them, I have enough padding from that tractor tyres of mine.

I had that quite badly, swapped bars so I no longer rested the centre of my wrist on the bar and it vanished.

I swear people overthink winter gloves. My 12 pound defeet ones have lasted me over a year now and my hands have never been cold. That said, I've only ever ridden in England in the winter. No crazy trips to Norway or the alps just yet.

Do you have normal people blood circulation?

Not necessary.
It's like saying that people overthink saddle when you're already comfortable with your Fizik/Brooks/whatever.

No, he probably doesn't, and he's also young. I never used to get cold either.
JB; ever ridden in Wales in -2? Or ever ridden in pouring rain for 5 hours?

I'm generally alright in thin gloves 90% of the time. The other 10% can be really fucking bad if you don't have the right stuff on.
-

Some people have to overthink gloves as in October they're already wearing silk liners and winter gloves (me). I have terrible circulation, thinking about gloves means I can actually ride in the winter (and autumn and spring, depending on what the weather feels like doing...).
People with normal circulation are very lucky, plus they are also richer than me as they don't have to buy so many pairs of gloves...

That is a very very accurate summary I can easily related to.

My girlfriend follow you with great interested as your information was very useful as she also suffer as badly as you do.
