you migt have to do another search for better quality and full length versions. they're worth watching if only for episode 11 with jason lee as kevin bacon in the footloose story.
"anyone one for a mee-el-tee?"

Condor sell a Mavic Open Pro rims with it's own hubs for £75* (that's for the rear), methinks the Halo isn't exactly value for money considering the weight and it's more of the look factor that win it for some people (regardless of whether it's bombproof or not).
also, it seemed to me that a good wheelbuilt usually one way of keeping the rims nice and strong, am I wrong in that?
*I just walked into Condor, ask them if there's any already-built rear track hub. they gave me two option, one is the lighter Mavic Open Sport with Condor hubs (£95) and the other is as mentioned.

not wrong, but some rims are more equal than others.
Halo rims have always had a good rep. the better mtb ones were a must-have for a lot of jump and 4x riders at one time

I was dead set on buying a set of these halo rims until I found this thread. So can anyone piont me in the right direction via links to a better front and rear wheel/hub set up for less money than a pair of the halos (£150). I want a fixed hub ot flip flop on the hear too.
Hit me with links!

I too have looked at the Halos which seem to be engendering a love/hate reaction. So, can anyone recommend an alternative wheelset for 125 miles/week London commuting? Other options seem to be Condor, Pearson or On-One, which all seem to be coming in at about £175. Replaceable, cartridge bearings in well-sealed hubs are a must. Not fussed about colour, although I will say in the Halo's lime-green defence, a driver who hit you would have no "I didn't see him" defence in court.

cheapest or cost unimportant?
if you want the cheapest, go for the System EX/Formula/SJS/etc. generic hubs, they're very cheap and reliable for the money, plenty strong regardless of the miles you'll be doing.
if you want a little bit flashier, go for the Miche Primato hubs (both of them sealed bearing).

i had one of these wheels, they're hard as nails and very reliable not a single problem
-
• #96
I say build your own. Formula hub, deep-vs grab sum spokes and DIY!

My mate has the standard Miche hubs to Mavic rims and they are great and normally a bit cheaper. Probably the one to go for if your LBS does some or you have time to build your own. However, I had to get a wheelset in a hurry and went for the Aerorages (largely for aesthetic reasons, I'll admit) and they've been awesome. Completely bombproof.
Also, has anyone else found a white front wheel helpful when riding at night? You can tell pretty accurately whereabouts the vehicle behind you is from the light thrown off on either side.

Who is the guy that has the fluoro Halo wheelset and fluoro decals on an otherwise blank chrome bike? Spotted in Condor last week.

^^ haha that would be me. i've got neon orange on the frame now (but i'm trying to find some brighter vinyl), and neon pink bartape, just waiting for my power grips to arrive then the neon green pedals are going on, once i get a neon green saddle my neon crusade will finally be over . i predict it'll end up in anti porn by the end of the month!
mmmmm... pegs...
