U]"Unfortunately"[/U] we don't have quite the hipster scene, or a velodrome, so besides curryers there's not many people riding "fixie" unless you go to dliadt or ncad (our art colleges) and then there are loads of "fixies", and chrome bags (I'm guilty too) which is pretty frikin schweet.
We have the sundrive road track! It's not as fancy as Manchester, but it's a great place for some racing... trackcycling.ie

I see fixeds all the time in Dublin. But I used to live in D2 around Baggot, and worked their too, so I would, wouldn't I.

For such a tiny (essentially flat) city, very few people cycle, which is shameful.
Peace
When did you live on Baggot Street, I lived on Baggot street earlier this year

I didn't actually live on Baggot, I worked there and lived about 1 minute cycle up the road.
For the last year and a bit I lived in London.

Well we've yet to organise our own events to be honest but short answer yes :)
We're having TrixieDix Dublin tomorrow hopefully...
I'll be out of action on the 14th for rosemantic reasons...
Bring the bike and come for a spin :)

Whats the bike crime like in dublin?
I might be there for a fair few years from next year. -
• #69
I dont live in the best of areas, I have never been mugged, bet up, had a bike stolen so I suppose I might be lucky or it might reflect the crime.
Wouldnt be worse than London I would say. -

I'm touching wood here. But.
In terms of bike crime, Dublin is not even close. Also, there's been a bike left outside my lane for a few days now, unlocked and untouched. But I suppose, unlike Stein, I actually do live in the best area (for the time being).
In terms of violent crime Dublin is pretty much like any other major European city but gang related crime rarely spills out of a few enclaves.
All crime, including bike crime, is easily avoidable by area (I'm touching wood). I think its a fairly good city to ride in generally. But with shit roads comparable to SE London. Our bus drivers (although far from perfect) are more chillaxed than those in SE London and traffic for the most part is at a stand still so you should find it fairly safe.
One great thing is about half an hour ride from the city centre your in mountains, otherwise there's not a hill to be seen. So you have a nice flat city to commute in and great mountains to cycle in just minutes away!
Peace
