Yes, it's called a freewheel. Try pushing your freewheel bike backwards, the pedals will turn backwards as they only freewheel in one direction. After a 180 he has to let the pedals turn backwards to allow the momentum to carry the bike backwards, otherwise it would just stop.
doh, of course. It was early, what can I say? :-)

this kind of stuff just amazes me, i really dont understand how people can be this good on bikes. the balance, control, and the confidence is somthing ill never be capable of.

That's freaking insane! He's got some mental skills.
I'ma echo Velosniper, I'd love to see him getting chased by the cops or something similar.I love Band of Horses too, it's a 531 song for a 531 video!

Manuals! Loads of great manuals. I liked the sort of rewind thing he did where he's manual rolling out of a big backwards hop down, then stalls it, manuals forwards and rewinds the trick. The big drops at the end as well, with passers-by scratching their heads and looking down after him. Shiiit. Seems like trials is starting to move about fast a bit more, less hopping around on the spot.

Glad to see he's wearing a helmet...

Fucking incredible, just incredible, puts many so called bmx "street riders" to shame with his creativity and fluidity, with skills like that he deserves every penny of sponsorship he gets.
-
• #42
I do worry about him giving you ideas, though.
-
• #43
Oh and I know its not the same thing, but for some next level shit on fixed, just wait for bootleg sessions 3 to drop, some of the stuff that has been thrown down on fixed for that film......you won't believe it.

Haha Ollie, you should have seen me in my bmx days! I've calmed down a lot, now i've developed a moderate respect for crashing, whereas I used to be just completely wreckless, still... my shitty standard forks are holding me back from trying some of the gaps/drops I really want to hit, besides if you don't push the limits....you never really find them ;)

Wreckless crashing doesn't sound too bad.

What are 'limits'?

Reckless even, and my point exactly I don't believe in limits :p

Martin Hawes and Martyn Ashton did a video in the 90's of them rolling round the streets jumping over shit. Chainspotting I think it was called. That was a bloody good video.
-
• #48
Yeah I remember seeing them with my very own eyes back at "Bike 98" Awesome memories :)
-
• #49
Ashton did some crazy high drop off of this massive structure, must have been about 16-20ft to flat. Groundbreaking back then!

Backbreaking ground then!
Fixed.
Nice work. It's good to see trials riding progressing again as it somewhat stagnated for a while.
I'll be sticking to my BMX though.
