  • He is sick, but he does 1 bit of trials in that whole vid.

The fag should get a bmx.

  • That video pretty much makes me want to never ride a bike again, because I'm just not good enough.

  • 360's up the stairs is craizeeee!

  • Pretty cool. I like new tricks :)

    Now.. "Do a skid!"

  • thats inspired! trials meets BMX meet Josh Bender!

  • This is a man who would severely piss off the cops in a chase.

  • Wow, I loved the bit with the tree. It made me laugh.

In some shots it looks like he can pedal backwards, but he also has a freewheel. Does such a hub exist?

trail bike tend to have fixed hub (but freewheel crankset), not sure how it work, althought I don't know why the backpedal.

  • no they dont? he was pedalling backwards so that he could roll backwards

  • they do have fixed hubs, has been for years.

  • wow, love the corkscrew off the tree, and that guy has got balance.
regarding the hubs, the ratchet mechanism of some hubs, dis-engages when going backwards.
    it's called a freecoaster hub.

  • wow. that is some seerious skillz.

I love all the people running to look over the edge to see what happenend.

  • as he calmly pedals away

  • All of this is just breathtaking.

    Fixed.

    Nutter.

  • as he calmly pedals away

he's just popping down to the shop.

SOme trials bikes have what is known as a front freewheel, and run a rear fixed wheel.

We have a couple of trialsers on the forum let them explain.
I love the song, one of my favorites.
scratch what I said- i've confused myself by looking at it full screen

    also its just unreal

  • awesome. reminds me of watching hans rey back in the early 90's

  • The bit where I gasped was the backflip off the tree. No idea if that's the most difficult, but that was the bit that I liked the best.

Was all of it filmed in Edinburgh?

I've seen trials riders at the London Cycle Show plenty of times, but that artificial set-up just isn't nearly as interesting as seeing one out on the range.

  • Han Ray was super ace, first heard of him in MBUK, that before they become all about the equipment and less about the ride.

I remember my favourite article was about a bloke (Rob Warner, i think) who went back to front sus mountain bike for a short while after riding full sus downhill bike, more than half the article is him describing the joy of riding his new bike (Santa Cruz hardtail I think).

Yes, it's called a freewheel. Try pushing your freewheel bike backwards, the pedals will turn backwards as they only freewheel in one direction. After a 180 he has to let the pedals turn backwards to allow the momentum to carry the bike backwards, otherwise it would just stop. It's riding fakie, bmx and mtbs have been doing it for years.

These do exist, but obviously he doesn't have one, otherwise he wouldn't need to pedal backwards, he could just freewheel.

  • didn't say he had one, just saying you can get them.

  • this kind of stuff just amazes me, i really dont understand how people can be this good on bikes. the balance, control, and the confidence is somthing ill never be capable of.

  • thats was blimmin brilliant.
