Bought some bits of these guys, very helpful.

    +1

  • And now the turn of Cavendish Cycles. I popped in there a couple of weeks ago, and this is what it looks like (for those that don't know). Good stuff in there.

  • "Halfords has pulled the plug on its independent bicycle stores experiment.

*One cycle shop will close in York and it will rebrand seven other Bikehut or Cycle Republics as Halfords shops. *

Halfords launched its stand-alone bicycle shops two years ago in the hopes that it could roll out a chain aimed at the premium market."

    Shame :(

  • Dont know if it's a repost but these guys have got alot of track gear.

Hm, odd, doesn't seem to work for me any more--I remember it working, though. Have you had a look at it recently, mattty?

Can anybody recommend a decent bike workshop in Clapton/Stoke Newington?
Do you mean a shop specifically because of the quality of their repairs, or a workshop where you'd want to do some work yourself?

Two Wheels Good in Church Street get good reviews. I haven't been there for a long time, though, and I've never used them for repairs. There's Bike Mech at The Castle (repairs only), which likewise has a lot of fans. A&F Cycles, the only bike shop in Clapton, also gets good feedback. For repairs, I go to Bike Yard East myself.

We also have the Hackney Self-help Workshop if you want to learn how to fix your bike yourself:

Not far from Clapton in Frampton Park.

  • Tokyo fixed gear and also London bicycle repair shop (the cut, Waterloo)

New bike shop about to open on Newington Green, Stoke Newington. No idea what it's going to be like yet, will report back once open.

Ah, cool. I suppose that's probably going to be on the Islington side of Newington Green (Hackney only has the northern side). More bike shops FTW!

  • It's just off matthias road and they have vacancies for full and part time mechanics according to the window, its like two seconds from where i lived til last week

  • Superb. There's more and more bike shops springing up where there was previously quite a large gap in provision.

Good luck to them with recruiting:

  • The new Newington Green shop opened today, it's called 'Push', nice people, got a few fixed/ss including some interesting Abici's, worth a look.

  • Yes, yet another bike shop in Hackney (just--on the borough boundary). Hackney Cyclists maintain a listing of bike shops in Hackney, which is here--the new shop not yet included:

    Oh, and their web-site is:

  • The guy said they had got their mechnics via the forum, but I have'nt seen anything about it here? they have some nice stock and are doing the ride to work scheme too, good set up and right next to a cake shop! (thats called boulangerie in stoke newington)

  • Would it be totally out of order to add our shop, Fullcity, 72 Leather Lane? Totally chaotic, but our professor mechanic Arsene does not approve of gears. Still no website, fullcity.cc, but lots of rides planned for 2010 and not bad coffee.

  • mend-a-bike in fulham
lots of bargins especially if you go under the arches
    lots of second hand stuff
    great service too
    give them a look

Worthy repost, though, as previously it hadn't been mentioned in this thread. :)
