If there's a list then better to be on it than not..
Out in darkest Naarfolk is a shop known as Madgetts Cycles, three generations of fixed gear no less. (Now the UK agent for Ghisallo beech wood rims)

Spoke tool - £8.50.
Well... that sucks. At least the guy I spoke with was nice. But, to be honest, I'd probably rather be abused and save a few £££.

I had a day off today, so finally popped into my local bike shop, Compton Cycles. Good stock, and polite, friendly service. The owner chatted to me, and was recommending Witcomb's new cycle designs, as being worth a look. Very decent of him. Comptons sell several FG/SS bikes - Alf Webbs, 3 versions of the Giant Bowery, 2-3 Charge versions, Genesis Flyers, and will soon stock Gary Fisher Triton too.
The shop does specialise in Bromptons, but have a good range of most things.
They have a good selection of bags as well. 1 in particular was excellent.

Anyone had any dealings with BikeOutlet.co.uk based in york. I ordered some headset spacers just over a month ago, and have yet to recieve them or any replies to my E-mails :(
GA2G. Nice Alf Webb pics, have always loved that paint job.

Isn't it funny how people are different. The Alf Webbs are nice, but I just don't get on with the colour scheme. I'd have that repainted straightaway. But if you like it, then thats all good.
I can't speak for BikeOutlet, but I ordered some tyres from somebody else, and after a couple months, they finally called to say that they never had them in stock anyway. I've since learnt, that companies do advertise stuff just to get the custom, then try to source it afterwards.
Better to ask at the time, if the items are actually in stock.

.Reminds of the paint splash style handlebar ribbon. Some love it some hate it, me I'm a lover.
As for the spacers. You're probably spot-on, and TBH I dont even need them for a while. Would be nice to recieve a reply though.

Had the most awful service from SBR recently: two weeks ago ordered some sylvan track pedals and some toe straps, their site saying they had plenty of both in stock. After only being able to see whether it had processed on their site (they said they were waiting on stock, peculiar)I sent an email and they said it would arrive last week, which it didn't. I called up on monday and they said they were waiting for the toe straps to arrive from their warehouse, the straps turned up on their own that day. Then the pedals turn up today and they've sent me the wrong ones! Don't think I'll be using them again anytime soon..

Hi Ga2G - can you add a couple of retailers to your list of online stores please?
Velosolo.co.uk - Just found this site recently - is it the new londonfixiebike? good stuff.
DotBike.com - for all your bikey bits. Good selection of spokes, though cyclebasket wins on price. -
• #111
Not in the list, though I should have added it - my bad. But Godalming Cycles has had its website suspended.
This is usually a bad sign. Hopefully the surge in cycling will be good for traders, but some that are over-stretched, will go to the wall.

Swim Bike Run is Bonthrone Bikes, who have a poor reputation generally.

Rob's bike shop in Stoke Newington/ Finsbury Park has to go in the list GA2G.
He has a sign up on it now 'Sargent & Co'. Worth a visit still and certainly one or two track frames and builds every now and then. -

I thought currently it was mainly another guy building there?

GA2G, could you please add: http://www.thebikewhisperer.co.uk/
Home-based "shop". Awesome customer service.
They race track so have track bits as well as normal bits.
They also service Powertaps (and pretty much anything else you want)
They offer coaching as well. Highly recommended for anyone near Ealing. -

SF, you ever get sorted? I live in York. Bikeoutlet.co.uk are, as you'd imagine, a bike located outlet outside town. Stacked to the rafters with cheapo bikes and kids bikes. Oddly enough they also stocked the full range of Orange bikes when they first opened. A mate bought a Patriot off them and from what I remember he had no major problems.
We thought they'd open up for Christmas then close shortly afterwards but that was a couple of years back and they've been around ever since. I'm pretty sure they're kosher but I've never dealt with them personally. Try calling them if you're still waiting.
Regards, Dave

I popped into Edwardes of Camberwell yesterday.
It was a revelation, in how much stuff they have in there, and how well looked after SS, Fixed and Track riders are.
They've got Bowerys, MashUps, SE Lager, Charge Plugs, Plug Racers, a gorgeous (to me) Iron Horse Transit (in army green, only £329!!!), fully built up Ridley Ovals, their own brand of racer(s)/fixed/ss (with your own colour choices for no extra). Also, a few second hand SS bikes outside the shop, for about £150.
I love this Iron Horse Transit. **Bargain too. **
By the way, I chatted with the propietor/manager, and he's well aware that they should get a website sorted. So, he's offering that anyone on here with reasonable web skills, that can sort them out an okay website, will get discounts on anything they sell....as well as long term free servicing (to be agreed). If I could, I'd leap at that offer! Ask for George, or Clark (it was he that I'd met).
Something for buses, trains, or planes. Suits you sir. Not me, but maybe you? Yes, its a full-size folding bike.
Very very very nice. Strong, and fast. Okay, I'm biased. I love it....and the bonus, is that its already built up. Or spec it yourself. -

Did you manage to get a list of what they've got?

GA2G great work on the lists and photos very useful - like that iron horse
twowheelsgood- crouch end: when fronted by an antipodean gent = rude, unhelpful and expensive
twowheelsgood - stoke newington: friendly, helpful and expensive -

Its not important, but I'd like to give a shout-out to D2 Cycles on Loampit Vale and A.E.Wilson Cycles in Peckham.
I've just added both. D2 can order in Charge bikes should you wish them, and A.E.Wilson gave me a top-up of air so that I could meet up you lot at the end of the Eilidh Ride.
D2 charge £1 for air, but A.E.Wilson gave me the top-up for free. D2's pump only went up to 115psi, so they didn't charge me. A.E.Wilson also stock track hubs right there in the shop.
My thanks to both shop's for the assist. Muchas gracias.

really building into an informative thread GA2G, glad you have marked Edwardes as excellent, they are.
One omission from the list though these days must surely be Tour De Ville? Jos and Keith's own shop chock full of beautful NOS and vintage stuff... if you haven't been down there take a butcher's and be wowed, I know you're an OTP man as it goes but this is one serious shop.
Keep it going man, good stuff.

Shyza! Sorry about that. In fact the manager at D2 knows Jos (though I don't). I'll correct that and add 14 as well.

New bike shop opening on Creek Road on April 4th...
http://cyclesukgreenwich.blogspot.com/
Don't know if it'll be any good, but they've been proactive about getting feedback from cyclists (talking to the Greenwich LCC group I think) which is a good start.
And they're talking about lending out courtesy bikes while people have their bikes in for repair, which is nice.
Spoke tool - £8.50.
