the coolness of having the owl is totally negated by the lameness of having the owl keeper on-site
^ I know! They could have at least made an effort to dress a bit smarter.
Might have something to do with pattern recognition perhaps the owl/hawk has trained himself to the lumberjack shirt pattern his handler wears everyday. If he wore a suit, then perhaps the hawk would have his eyes out instead.
Now that would be a wedding to remember.

I'm nailing it next summer and after trying to lay hands on a place in Greenwich it soon became apparent that nearly every venue is owned by the same company with a set tier of costings to truly fuck you over and worse still, dictate what, when and how you and your guests do. Choose the menue 6 months in advance ? WTF ?
So I gets all tetchy and being northern just think fuck it I'll do the whole lot me sen. Got an incredible venue (Music hall so no extras for lights or PA) Profesional kitchen they will let you take over, I'm a dj (Aren't we all) so that's sorted, I know a couple of livestock farmers cum butchers so food's easy AND I get to shoot the cow. Bizarrely to make it work and fill the venue I've had to double the guests but because I'm sourcing everything from scratch myself it's coming in at exactly half what the Mafia who run SE10 demanded for a room and some sausage rolls.
Essentially it's like making a curry at home from individual ingrediants as oppose to paying £15 for a take away.
Of course I could fuck the whole thing up and find myself playing 5 hours of Frank Sidebottom to an empty, foodless room. Apart from an angry looking owl. -

That owl business just reminds you of how many awful and bizarre ideas people have around weddings.

My wedding cost me the fee of Marriage Certificate. My wife had a lovely dress from China which I bought for £15 (sic!). Nobody knew it ain't a kosher thing. Honeymoon in Walthamstow Village's B&B. Sorted!

I am - in July. We started off down the '50 people, no more than £3k' route but when you're in your mid-thirties, have 40 family between you (and yes, they do have to be invited in our opinion) and loads of friends... It's going to cost us about £8k all in, and that's for 100 during the day and 50 more in the evening. I believe it's a special day which you have to go into thinking that you're only going to do once, so (if you can afford to) you should have a fucking massive and brilliant party with as many of the people you love as possible around you.

Congrats Pascalo, its the way to do it. My Mum and Dad got married in Brixton registry office after work, with two mates as witnesses, then went down the local pub - which happened to be full of my dads workmates.
Them: Hello Mike, what you doing here all dressed up?
Dad: I just got married, fancy a pint?
Them: WTF?!They got into right trouble for not telling the in-laws, but I think it's awesome - plus I know I'll never get any pressure from them to get married or have some sort of epic wedding.

Went to a wedding last weekend, mates from back home. Warwick Castle, ceremony in the state room, dinner next door in the banquet hall. Only dropped one glass of wine on their ancient floor. Mrs Glover wanted to sneak up to the ramparts and RAM MY PARTS but I could barely walk on flat ground, let alone up Medieval stairs.

Yeah, we told everyone to stay put and save for the trip to Oz when we move down there in December hopefully. Would be a waste to fly everybody into London for what is essentially a one day event.

Thank you!
The deed is done, and I am a husband.
The whole day was very chilled out, pretty much like I planned it, even the 3 year old that was with us played ball and was nice and compliant the whole day.Special thanks to Damo for encouraging me to go with our instincts rather than doing what everybody else seemed to want.
