  • Good session today guys. Adoubletap, Corny, Purple mj and myself pissing off the dynorod.

  • good 2nd richmond session, nice pace, got dropped on the ascents and didn't have the legs to drag myself back on the flats, but thats why I'm doing the training in the first place to get better, stronger, faster, we can rebuild him!!!!

anyway, good to meet purple mj, dancing james' alter ego, and doubletap is quick for a bigman.

Look forward to the next one, and ved, let me know if the sunday geared ride happens next week..

  • The headwind along the Embankment on the way to back was a beast today, Clive had mentioned it in the past but I never believed him, nothing that a few of the Boroughs finest sausages couldn't sort out after though! A great few laps and nice to meet the infamous cornelius blackfoot, thanks Ved for leading us out today and to adoubletap who knows how to spin, truly inspirational.

  • Calshot was amazing. We missed you all!

  • no we didn't, we were all too busy having fun riding a real track ;)

  • whose in for this saturday morning, anyone know if richmond park is snow free yet, don't really want to be descending and catch some ice.
I'll be there bright and early for a 9.30 start

  • i'm going come along. see you there. it is meant to snow tomorrow though...

  • judging by the forecast, unlikely for me.

    sufferfest indoors

  • I aint coming out again until it gets above 6 degrees and stays that way for over a week with no rain. I really have had it now with this weather! :(

  • you nonce Mike.
i am out there in skins, slicks and brakeless! See you there at 9 Cornie!

  • I officially had enough about two weeks ago, the snow is just so far beyond the pale now that I no longer register any emotion regarding weather apart from mild disdain.

this would be a good time to rest anyway, start ramping up the training again at the end of feb/beginning of march.

  • +1 sufferfest, but that means I have to clean at least one bike if I don't want road grit all over flat

  • that's the beauty of a dedicated track bike!

(and also the drawback is having to ride a heavy old pooper to train on the road)

  • just discovered that the new track nuts i put on the fixed last week work perfect with the turbo and it is not that dirty so I can have a sufferfest go before cleaning the road bike.

  • that's the beauty of a dedicated track bike!

(and also the drawback is having to ride a heavy old pooper to train on the road)

Surely riding a 'heavy old pooper' on the road is a major advantage? I'd train on a 50lb butcher's bike if I had one, as long as it fit me properly.

  • apparently so.
will the knackered headset help too?

  • Heavy and unaerodynamic, yes.

    Knackered, no.

  • Morning all,

I've been meaning to join in with one of these for ages - after chatting with Wayne and Hippy on a few of the social rides - would it be alright to meet you tomorrow?

I'm guessing you meet in the Roehampton gate car park/cafe, Corny you said ready for a 9.30 start?

  • ^ Yep come along, keep an eye on thread tho. Its weather dependant.

  • you nonce Mike.
i am out there in skins, slicks and brakeless! See you there at 9 Cornie!

    Never gonna happen!

  • No, no Ved i have too man
I even laid off the drink last night (went for a run) and tonight so i can get up early and head to RP. i got my name down for a big ride next week and haven't riden properly all month!
    time to get serious

  • See you there* Pip, its 9:30 btw.

I thought you had your ghost bike stuff to do?!

    *weather permitting

  • Thanks Ved,

I'll be on the sauce for the the rest of the day, so I've got to get a ride in to justify the damage!

  • It was sketchy out in Ealing today.. lots of black ice. Richmond Park with its low amount of traffic compared to A roads might be quite dodgy. If you do go.. take it easy.

  • ^ Yep, very true hippy - and you often find the conditions on the top of the hills different to the rest of London.

If that happens my contingency plan is abandon to the cafe for a full english to set me up for the inevitable later on.
