as hippy said. if you have not done these kinds of rides before you should improve in relatively short time (weeks). keep good memories of your improvement it will probably never as massive again.

Sadly I have improved and still suck. I just wish I could suck a wheel once in a while.

Sorry chaps, I've had to be off the computer for a while and wouldn't have been able to make it this morning owing to having a meeting 1-3pm. I will try and make it one of these days! Good to hear you had a(n) (n)ice ride.

Good session today, myself, DJ, fiddy and dulwichrider took on a few laps of RP. Great weather, bit windy and very very busy :s
Nice to meet you Tom, hopefully you can come down for some more sessions. Just don't let RPM see the pursuit bars.

wont make it tomorrow. did north london climbs last night and must say all this winter training is starting to make sense. 70 GI and no struggle up swains lane.
-
• #466
I wish I could say the same claus!
I won't be around tomorrow either.
-
• #467
who is going to be around, I'm free from cold now and need to get into the training...
if no one is around, may just roll up geared and do some laps anyway.. -
• #468
I'm not going to be there (surprise) as I have too much to do at home, will be on the rollers in the morning as I won't have time to venture out into the lovely warm, dry climate.

Yep, thats where its at Claus. I am able to climb Highate hill now on 72GI whithout getting out of the saddle. I will probably burn myself out in a few weeks, but hey ho!
What sort of times are you doing these climbs, as I go this way every night and could join up with you

In the spirit of Mikec's request - I go up Maze Hill every night and was thinking of using it (or Vanbrugh Hill) for repeats. If anyone else ever fancies also having a shot at this, it'd be good to know...
(... more fun than having races with 'civilians' ...)

@mike, that is the difference between us: you are pushing 72 seated with a decent period off riding seriously while I was doing some winter miles, turbo and stuff and still have to get out of the saddle last section of SL. hope I am not peaking already end of january, tsss
will try to through in a session like that once in a while. not on my daily commute but let you know a day in advance when i am doing it next time. would be 7pm onwards. -

Claus, I very much doubt I would be able to get up Swains lane without getting out the saddle. In fact, I know I couldn't. Highgate Hill is not as steep, its a more gradual longer hill. I have been climbing it slowly after work to build up leg strength. I am going to have a bash on the turbo on Sunday I reckon. The trouble is with the turbo, when I use it, all hell breaks lose. The wife starts shouting about the noise and the cat runs under the bed fearing for its dear life! The one I have always makes me fel that I am going to be catapulted off it and through the neighbours wall!
