255 sounds short. ignore the nipple, measure from hub hole to rim.

If you have the time and patience wheel building is piss easy.
getting the wheel to run true is another story, best take it to a bike shop for that part, but lacing a wheel is a simple job. -

Sorry boys, playing my 'dumb' card on this one, I don't get it! :(

make sure donut that you have a suitable hub, one that can take the tension of radial lacing.
I think shimano for example don't gurantee the hubs for radial lacing cos they aren't strong enough.
just a thought... u wouldn't want it imploding on you. -
• #40
So long as your not going radial with your back wheel nothing is going to implode.
I wouldn't radially lace a vintage Campag or something but otherwise it'll be fine.

there's me thinking i was being thoughtful.
i do have a point though don't i ? -

Some bike shops may be reluctant to true the wheel for you if you built it yourself. Just a word of warning.

Sorry boys, playing my 'dumb' card on this one, I don't get it! :(
there's nothing to get, really, it's only art.
sometimes I look for a suitable JPG to express an opinion or feeling about a particular post or thread, often I get sidetracked by what comes up in the searches and end up finding interesting things that have no bearing on what I was originally looking for (following?) and so when I realize there was a point to the image search, I decide to post whatever image I have ended up with, if it is worth sharing.
a word on radial: it's not approved by the Nihon Jitensha Shinkokai , so if you plan on trying to get into the Japan Keirin School best not to bother with it

Did you search for 'despairing clown'? And does that sum up your feelings on this thread?

sorry to gatecrash this thread, but it's not worth starting a new one for.... I've got a bridgestone NJS HHSB etc, need to buy inner tube but don't know the wheel measurements, usually have bike with me but not today. what's the standard keirin wheel measurement i need to ask for in the shop?.... is it 700 x 23, I feel a spanner asking, but staff at evans might give me a choice.
