Dammit: I am giving up smoking. Using patches.
On the Carbon Monoxide test I got "moderate smoker" which is apparently very good considering how much I smoke. Must be all the cycling and swimming :D!
My blood pressure is perfect. My motivation for giving up is cost. I live on a bit of a knife edge with money, and since I'm not going abroad this year, I can't afford to smoke with paying UK tax on it. It costs a bloody fortune to smoke here.

The answer is yes, I do want sweets.
However I also want to lose approx 5kgs and giving up smoking and eating like I should have a little curly tail is not going to help in this I fear.

As long as you burn more calories than you put in :-) Goji berries, dried cranberries (they're sweet - sometimes I'd fool my daughter with them).

On the Smoking front two points
As reeen said don't worry if you have the odd one, or a drunk night where you smoke, don't use it as an excuses to start again be relaxed about it. Better to have the odd relapse and slowly become comfortable not smoking and get there in the end.
Always refer to cigarettes with a negative name. I know it sounds like physiology mumbo jumbo but if every time you say I'm off for a fag you always say I'm off for a death stick or I'm off to make sure my teeth implants fall out or I'm off to through money away e.t.c it's the equivalent of continuously nagging yourself and not hiding form the reasons you want to give up.

Maybe you will have more will power, but this was my downfall.
It started with:
"well i'm pissed, and it's better to have a couple of drags on a mate's fag than buying some..."
And ended in the inevitable. - As reeen said don't worry if you have the odd one, or a drunk night where you smoke, don't use it as an excuses to start again be relaxed about it. Better to have the odd relapse and slowly become comfortable not smoking and get there in the end.

Been ok today, acid test will be tonight I suppose.
If my implants don't take then that'll be 5K down the drain plus I'll always be missing two teeth, so I've got motivation for it.
Thanks for the advice everyone, esp Tommy's!

Do they still do chocolate cigarettes in this country, or is that banned as un-PC?
Dammit, when I quit smoking I had a good incentive as well. I lost my voice a couple of times after going for club nights with 10 pints and 3 packs of the cancer-torpedoes. Always ended up having a bad bad cold and infected tonsils.
After that, when I quit, it was seriously easy. I just didn't want to smoke ever again.
With it came a change of lifestyle, that made me the boring piece of shit I am today.
So maybe that's what you need to do? Smoke 3 packs in a row and get really sick from it?
