  • sorry mate, got nothin' there ... noooothing you'd like to put on a bike.

on a side note, whot is all that confusion about? peeps seem to miss a lot these days ... dunno 'bout lynx's adventures but i'd bet my money (just smallish change, i keep the brass coins for the beer really) on another roebuck nightâ„¢

  • It's in the thread title now.
    Sorted.

  • Today is the first day of giving up smoking, so I shall see you all later with my fingers chewed down to bloody stumps and a nasty temper- any and all advice on how to succeed with this new challenge welcomed.

  • Red Man?

  • Got an inhaler thing with 10mg Nicotine cartridges in it.

Must remember not to set fire to one end of it.

Don't drink tonight as it'll weaken your resolve. Unless you're totally committed then just go for it. And stick your fingers up at the smokers.

I'm on a booze free month so we can be the dullards together. And subsequently will stay until people start talking shite. (about 15 minutes ;) )

  • HTFU and just never smoke a fag again.

    worked for me.

  • Strikes me as a good day for it.
If it's anything like this morning it's gonna rain anyway. Gives you a chance to stay inside.

  • any and all advice on how to succeed with this new challenge welcomed.

    1. passive smoking will help.

    2. get somebody to hold fifty pounds for you that they should give to a chairty or keep if you are caught smoking again.

idea 1 and will power worked for me. idea 2 i didnt try but just thought of it.
good luck on quitting its a great feeling not being a slave to the weed.

  • I went to see the practice nurse yesterday who said to come in this morning to pick up the nicotine replacement stuff.

So I got up early and went to the surgery- which was shut.

Went to the Boot's in Waterloo in the end, queue-tastic, and expensive.

  • I guess you haven't read Alan Carr - EasyWay. Very good book to help you give up.
And the best bit is that you can smoke while you read it!! it does work.
Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking: Amazon.co.uk: Allen Carr: Books

  • Breathed into a Carbon Monoxide measuring device at the Dr's yesterday and the level of it in my blood was 8 times that of a normal person, but my blood pressure was 140 over 80 (should that be the other way round?) which is apparently fine.

Motivation for doing this is tooth related- failure rate for the implant operation is 10% for non-smokers, 25% for smokers.

Which is a shame as I enjoy(ed) smoking.

  • I have a copy of that book you can borrow if you want Dangit... Pages 27 to end are brand new.

  • You need to give up the nicotine! that's the drug your addicted to!!
It's like saying I'll smoke Heroine instead of injecting it...

  • Theres a thought...

  • I shall be coming along tonight. It's the Inn On The Park right?

As long as my new Titanium teeth don't wrench themselves out of my jawbone I'd happily inject Nicotine into the soles of my feet!

  • I've been in the slow process of giving up as well. Stopped smoking at work, and at home. It just when I'm in the pub I tend steel a cigs off others.

  • Pickle, I haz microscopic jersey in my bag for you. You coming along?

  • Titanium? Can't you get carbon fibre ones, they're going to be lighter.

  • Balki I'll be there, where are we drinking tonight?

  • It is haz Roebuck (its at the Roebuck)

  • Excellent I like the Roebuck.

  • Good to know you're coming Sakky, me and ed will be there too.

  • @dammit: me had success quitting using iron hard will power. me mates how ever, at least that one who succeeded as well, used Haribo to substitute the need to fiddle with something.

... but a word of caution, he started to exhibit strange behavioral glitches after 1.5 packs of these gum bears. my guess, it could be the sugary part or their content ;)

another theory is to not take it to serious, as in serious + the urge then fail and then being more and more discouraged, so rather treat it like a mood swing (or something, whot do i know about that psycho crap, i don't reflect myself every time i repeat once red bullsh... erm knowledge) in your mind and see to it to keep this mood up. blaaaah
my cousin howevah goes and gets her self a hypnosis session, where they try to substitute the urge to smoke with the need for a glass of water (or whotever you see fit cough ale giggels)

hmm ale ... brings me to the tuesday evening activities - The SE Cycle Pintaaaage.

    see you lot tonight, wooooohaaaaaar!
