Some people do ride 35c on DP18 you just have to make sure they are pumped to way beyond their manufacturers spec...

Your perception is mostly colour-oriented, Iain. Don't worry about it. Others are good with forms, lines, and structures, but have less subtle colour perception. It's just a question of strengths and weaknesses.
