Polaris and Howies do some nice lightweight jackets around the £50 mark.

I know - but it's what that Swrve jacket reminded me of.
You've got to admit, it's a bit fetish like.

[ACTUAL SIZE]Does it come in Navy?

just saw that jacket on my mobile phone, the slag is a micro midget!

I like it tight for the aerodynamic aspects, i have to tape my nipples down to achieve a better wind resistance down hills
I think it comes in a black or Navy - total Cycling had a good deal on them, but white only...

I just got one of these.
I have had quasi waterproof winter jackets in the past but this e-vent stuff is apparently the real deal.
I live in Glasgow so it will be tested here for sure, it rains all the fucking time! It may be the best £100 I have ever spent, we will see!

Just want to jump on this band wagon for a sec. Is there ONE product that will do it all? I get super hot and sweaty cycling - is there something that won't have me sweating from the inside and will keep me dry when the skies open? I have a shite altura waterproof thing atm which they market as breathable - its bollox....I'd be equally well off wrapped in cling film for its breathability. Female specific suggestions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

no there is no one product to do it all. however a gore N2S softshell will do most of it and an e-vent/goretex or similar waterproof will do for the downpours. endura have now dropped e-vent for a cheaper but allegedly similar performing product.
the thicker softshells seem to be sweat prone unless it's near freezing but the thinner ones work well (for me) use either of the above with a merino baselayer.
i have a thin windproof but haven't tried it yet. not as warm as a softshell or waterproof but still handy if you layer up underneath.i am done with cheap jackets they all seem to be compromised in some way, you get what you pay for. the only cheap jacket i still use is a top made with a windtex front panel and roubaix sleeves which never gets too sweaty but stays warm.

Guys and gals.
Can't find a dedicated thread, so thought I'd start one.
Erm, all my winter jackets are like swiss cheese due to offs and now have the thermal and water resistant properties of er, swiss cheese. I'm minted and have money flowing out of my windows at home, infact I use notes to keep the fires in my house burning, etc, etc, so was looking at the Rapha Softshell (not lightweight) and maybe the ridiculously expensive Castelli Insolito.
Maybe I need to get brough back down to earth, but I do believe in decent winter jackets (which I need for the racer as well).
Anyone got any usage under their belts of either of these or can recommend anything?
@ Spagetti Hoops - what was the jacket you were wearing last Monday at Souths Quasomething?
best OP ever...

may i note that about 95% of "breathable" waterproofs provide so little breathabilty that they are useless for anything other than pretty low intensity activities. event seems to be the front runner for an actual breathable membrane waterproof.
personally i would really like it if someone bought me this

Buffalo Shirts do do it all .
Really they do,
as does decent tweed , for much the same reasons.

I have exactly the same problem, anything plasticky and waterproof = sweatbox. At the moment I'm commuting in roubaix fleece-lined long sleeve jersey, which was £5 from Herne Hill Jumble, with a cotton t-shirt or vest underneath. It's turned out to be the most versatile bit of clothing I own, works well with multiple layers underneath, and seems to have some magic water-holding properties, where the outside jersey layer gets saturated, but the fleece lining stays bone-dry (the inside stayed totally dry through two 5 mile downpours this summer). Not much help with finding a jacket I know, but would be interested to hear suggestions, since there's only so many washes a £5 jersey can stand...

Yep. I got myself one as well ... I sweat like a pig in it.
I have a howies jacket made from schoeller stuff, which was really nice, but that on lets water through now :(
