Those wheels dont look like they'll last long.

    Mothergirl:

    Are you working at Mac?
Hows things there these days? You know they fired ALL the staff when they closed for refurb. Seriously, ALL of them.

There is some sinister goings on behind that place I tell thee.

  • Can any of you guys recommend routes round here? I'm in Bournville. Planning to try out the canal (well, next to it) and the Rea Valley Route as I get used to my bike and becoming a cyclist again after almost 30 years. Like the community spirit!

  • try getting out into the countryside - head to the maypole and from there you can go a few ways on quiet leafy lanes. it's pretty easy to find your way back again as you build up the distances.

  • Ye good Jay. Still skating. I thought you were working at The Crispin in Stourbridge? What you up to now? Living in Brum?

Sorry to clog the thread everyone else!

cool man. yeah..im living in selly oak, well good as theres loads of places to paint round here and all my friends live here too.. i left the crispin to live in selly, couldnt stand it there no more, its closer to uni too... trying to start a design company at the moment..just finished the website..good hearing from you bro. maybe see you on a ride sometime mate..

  • Anyone familiar with those two 40ish cyclists that work on Vittoria Street? One of them has a Mercian Track bike, with barbers polo seatube and a BIG track gear ratio. I see them riding about every so often.

Today, track bike bloke was bombing around on his mercian wearing a full face DH helmet.

  • Ben on Holloway circus. Couldn't wave; I was too busy trackstanding sketchily (with freewheel) at the roundabout junction and felt that I would have fallen off if I'd have moved much more than to give a faint nod...

No, he seemed like a 'Summer' cyclist.

How'd do you know that? Did you hear me on the radio yest? Apparently no-one listens to radio WM...hmmm it's an awesome community space to work for. They kept on a small group of staff actually but if you're closed for two years, who's catering gonna cater for and who's sales going to sell to? Everyone got offered their jobs back also but yeah I agree it was whack, funding fucked up bigtime! Come say hi, pick up some freebies from me for the cinema! I also help out at Get a Grip printing, Custard Factory, so if you see a white and blue Raleigh lurking outside Ideal or wobbling at the Digbeth lights (SS) than say hi!

  • Oh and does anyone know where I can get hold of photos from the last CM to blog? I saw lots of people taking them. I already asked over on that thread.

  • you linked that ladies cycling blog, it was in there!

Ooh, and I think you find someone is telling fibs to you about re-offering jobs. Ill talk to you about it more in person if you like, would love to check out the cinema and may really need the freebies on account of the new pricing!

Have you seen four lions yet?

    Shamim.

  • Yeah Femme Pedale, I've been pretty slack with it lately but will do some good posts this weekend...hit me up if you want to contribute! Seeing Four Lions at mac on sunday night if you fancy it? Fin too maybe.

  • four lions is good - massive audience at the cineworld last week. best bit involves puffins.

  • Pistaboy...is this yours outside the fighting cocks last night?.........

  • Its not mine mate. I'm not cool enough to roll on a Spok.
    Nice pre cursa though

  • belongs on the track, not locked up outside a pub! I hope he was keeping an eye on it

  • that is my friend pat's
helped him build it up last week
verrrryyyyy nice to ride but really does belong on a track.

  • stem needs flipping for aesthetic purposes...

  • saw igor on pershore road the other day (brown haired igor) and Lee (as mentioned above)

The stem is fine. Most modern frames seem to have a tiny headtube necessitating upward pointing stems for a decent fit. Even for actual race bikes:

The problem with that bike is the spok, which other than being kind of naff is actually extravagantly priced. Probably 4x the cost of those cheapy (white?!) cranks.

The rolls looks rather out of place on it too.

  • A whole bunch of peeps turning to cycle up the Oxford Road in Moseley yesterday evening. One on a Dolan

  • White frame with pink rim up front, blue rim at the rear. With drop bars. Fixed.... anyone?

Totally agree with this sentiment - i recently went on a bike-fitting course with the guys from CycleFit and of the 13 people in the group, 12 of us were on positions that were too low in the front. For almost everyone (it seems), we should be looking at getting the seat and bar-tops at roughly the same height, and certainly no more than a 5cm drop.

If you're very flexible and you have strong core muscles, or you're racing criteriums and don't ride for more than an hour at a time, you can probably live with the discomfort.

yeh i think most people ride with the discomfort, for me it seems more comfortable to have quite a large drop between the two, legs and arms are to long so im all cramped up if there low ahah

Did you miss the part where I said AESTHETIC PURPOSES?

So Dan. I have bike-related back problems. I also get occasional knee problems. My singlespeed bike is fine at the moment - It's amazing how a 20mm shorter / 15mm higher stem can completely eradicate a severe back ache - but in future with new bikes I might need your services when you become a qualified cycle fitter, just so I can sort out measurements instead of going through time-consuming trial and error. When can I come to you and how much will you be charging?
