Indeed.
Don't lose focus of the original email or what happened this morning.
The spirit shown in the first few pages of this thread is inspirational, and whilst we have momentum and the incident is fresh we should push it as far as possible.
Spoke cards are a great idea. A grass roots campaign to raise awareness amongst the wider populace of cyclists of the dangers of trucks.
Stick to that... don't lose focus, squabble or become distracted by too many differing goals. We can totally achieve that one goal with great success and create enough publicity from it to help raise awareness.
I'm happy to throw some money towards creating the spoke cards. And I'm sure others would donate too. Let's act now, whilst we have momentum.
Then, let's spread 5,000 of them amongst 500 core members of the forum. We have those numbers, it can work easily. Each person only has to place 10 spoke cards. Again, a small and achievable target for each person, though the target of 500 people doing it is high (but we have 2,000 active members, so only 1/4 of the active user base).
Don't put swear words on the cards.
And make it clear that they're for cyclists... if they fall off on the road they should still state their purpose out of context.Just my 2p.

Agreed VB, Lets make this happen - I too am happy to contribute a few quid to the cause and help in any way possible.
-
• #184
well put... sorry for the chitter chatter.
Maybe we could get thee design for the spoke card tied down by Friday?
What say you all?
-
• #185
I would be more than happy to distribute (and put up some donation for the costs) as I seem to spend more time riding between meetings than I do in work at the moment.
-
• #186
I am willing to help with a few quid and some distribution.
How about a few stickers (of the spoke card) to send to some haulage companeys to put on the back of trucks. Not in a blame sort of way though.
-
• #187
Look swearing is out but people like the 'Don't fuck with the trucks' line because it's memorable and catchy. So, how about at the top of the card we have 'Don't push you luck with trucks' (memorable, catchy, non-sweary). Remove the words HGV from the back of the truck/lorry icon (no longer needed because the headline supports what you're seeing) and keep the 'right side' 'suicide' as is?

Very happy to donate!
I also thing Mumblers [sic] link for the TFL financial backing site is genius.
As stated in a previous post, if we manage to get that kind of number of cards into circulation then i am certain i can get someone at Metro to cover it.

Also happy to put up cash/time/effort. I'll speak to my mate in the TFL press office as well.
Another thought, slightly south of legal, but what about stencils? Anything to get the message across!

I like this as an alternative non sweary slogan (although i like the sweary one as well) and agree about the HGV thing, I think the picture of the lorry speaks for itself.
As mdillness says lets get the design confirmed by friday, then we can pull in those offers for printing and what not.
I think stickers would be good as well, not just to send to truck companies but to stick at traffic lights (back of trucks) -

I dunno, still seems like a prick to me. making sarcastic comments that are neither funny or sarcastic so he just looks like a cunt.
Deserves a pasting.
? pardon, that's rude. bollocks!

I am more than happy to distribute spoke cards / donate money to take this off the ground.

Happy to contribute money and time. I wouldnt mind standing somewhere and dishing them out for an hour or so on my morning commute. Anything to raise awareness I think.

Stickers on Traffic lights posts and spoke cards are a great idea.
Laminated cards and a cable tie around the top tube also good.
Happy to help fund and post stickers and cards etc.
Not sure the graphic is clear enough.
Cyclists need educating as well as drivers.
My 2p and good work everyone. -

The lorry graphic needs to have a left indicator picked out in orange.

I think it would be silly to dilute the message any further than don't undertake lorries.

Also, could someone make the Moving Target blind spot diagrams into a poster(s)? I am going to put them up in the bike shed & showers at work but being a complete fucking luddite it'd be easier if someone made them into a hi res pdf I could print out, rather than trying to cut and paste them into Powerpoint or something.
