  • PM fail?

  • I have several jobs to offer.
    I'm not the hiring manager but I can help answer questions about the roles and it's possible I may have some say in who gets hired.

    Our web stuff is .Net based, DB is SQL Server, platform is Windows and IIS. Webmasters should have HTML, JS, CSS, XSL and C# experience I would have thought. Lead developer and Tech leads are going to need to be proficient in the same, and whilst the company probably puts more emphasis on the .Net side of things (because you may be used for non-web projects as well) I am keen that at least two tech leads with decent, up-to-date front-end web development experience and talent are hired, because I intend to leave soon and they are going to need to replace that side of my skills. (You should probably be aware of the many ways in which .Net can fuck up a nice website if left to its own devices). Sitecore experience is a definite bonus, as, I suspect, is Telligent experience.
    Project Managers should be familiar with Agile.

    The jobs are primarily based in London EC2, but there are offices in Wallingford, Oxon as well as offshore in Romania and Moldova. We have a one man office in NYC too for some reason. You may well be asked to travel to one of these other offices.

    In Managed Services:
    Client Support Manager;
    Datacentre Coordinator

    In the Digital Media team:
    Client Support Manager;
    Technical Webmaster;
    Project Managers;
    Lead Developer/Tech Leads.

    Please PM me with any questions or to apply

    Do not be scared or too nervous. That is easier said than done, but if you are confident that you can do the job well then you should be able to relax quickly and talk assuredly.

    Wear a beautiful suit. Clothes that make you look and feel fabulous really help your confidence.

    Don't be afraid of saying "I don't know", "no, never heard of it" or "never done that". It will make them believe you when you say "yes I know all about that"

    Feel free to ask for clarification. Don't try and respond to something you do not understand.

    Smile

    Let them know how enthusiastic you are. I love people who are passionate about their work.

    prepare some reasons they should choose you over other people - what can you offer them.

    prepare some questions. You have things you want to know. It helps to remember you are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you. You want to know where they are going with this too.

    have fun. relax, enjoy it, engage.

    Thank them afterwards by email or letter, and follow up. make the HR person remember you.

    Is that actually legal? Not you fitting the criteria, but setting an age limit on candidates... I'd be surprised if it is.

  • probably due to vehicle insurance, so would be entirely legal.

  • The age limit might be imposed by the vehicle insurers rather than the employers. I think some car rental companies might have the same restriction.

  • You kind fellow!

  • Ok I'm now looking for a job. Yet another internship has ended with no vacancies to apply for.

    I have experience in product development, art writing, sales roles, physical labour, workshop.

    I graduated last year with a 2:1 in Art History from the University of Manchester, I have been extremely proactive since but have had no luck. I'm very eager, I need something soon. PM with anything you think I might be interested, I'd greatly appreciate it.

  • I'm looking for part time, evening and Sunday work, just a few hours a week to keep me going during my degree. I used to co-own a cafe so any food industry work is a possibility, I'm a good waitress and a decent mechanic. I've been in the bike trade for the last 4 years, but I'm happy to do anything. Keep you eyes open for me!

  • Bit of a long shot...

    I'm looking for two Econometricians to work in a media agency. We have roles for both senior and junior people.

    I'm basically looking for someone with a stats\economics degree who is interested in media.

    Give me a PM if you are interested!

    Did you leave Brixton Cycles?

  • No, I just need some extra work with shorter hours while doing my post-grad work.
    I can't quite budget an extra 9-hour bike shop shift in (I'll do 2 of em in the week, 3 would be too many). I just need a bit of extra work to keep me in pencils.
