  • I saw that Dennis Publishing is looking for a warehouse guy. When I was there this always looked like a nice job. Take the odd package off of one of those grungy bike courier-types, watch YouTube a lot and chat to everyone who comes through. Google the company if you're interested.

It's a magazine publisher, so a nice laid-back place to work, interesting people and the odd weird experience while at work to cheer things up.

  • I'm in need of some voluntary job twice a week (or as part time intern in some creative hipster place up East), so I can commute on my bike. I don't cycle enough and feel guilty about it.
I do nice coffees and have pleasant appearance.

  • Hey Ho

I need work (surprise surprise) as a freelance or permanent graphic designer/illustrator. I'm working on my website right now but I cand send a PDF with work if anyone cares.

I was the designer for the European Polo Championship so most of you have probably seen my work at some point.

Pm me if you have/know of anything. Thanks!

  • I (we) are looking for someone with NHS R&D experience initally for 6 months. salary ranging from 30 - 35K a year. PM me if you are interested.

Working for Imperial College London, in the south ken campus.

I saw this too late.. applied for it - gone.

Need something paying above 15/16k (ie. enough to live), assistant work in media/pr/publishing preferably.

  • Shame, nice company. I used to work upstairs on one of the PC mags, but the warehouse guys always cheered me up. They often got freelance gigs doing other stuff, too. The post guy wrote a book on the music biz, and another chap used to get paid to help out at Bizarre events (the alternative mag).

  • I'd imagine they were pretty bizarre events too (the word, not the mag).

Also Felix Dennis (founder of Dennis publishing) is minted and a bit crazy. FACT: He was the first person to say Cunt on british TV.

  • Yep, that's all covered in the company induction video

    ;)

  • But they have pornographic pictures all over their postroom. I always feel very uncomfortable delivering there.

(Sure they're lovely apart from that!)

  • Don't most post rooms have a similar sort of set up. I worked in the post room of Diageo. It was very straight laced. Kinda boring tbh.

  • didn't he (that Dennis chap) get rich by copywriting loads of Starwars images that Goerge Lucas didnt protect?

  • not as far as I know.

  • There's a sales position where i work. minimum 5 years experience.
also a need for a Ruby on Rails programmer type person.
    Pm me for more info.

    Really?!

didn't he (that Dennis chap) get rich by copywriting loads of Starwars images that Goerge Lucas didnt protect?

Not that I know of. He did once tell a journalist that he threw someone off a cliff. Then changed his mind and said it wasn't true.

  • Hello All, does anyone on here work in a Museum? I wold really like to get my foot in the door somewhere with some volunteering or perhaps (fingers crossed) something paid. I'm considering a masters but want to get some experience first to make sure it's the right thing to do! Many thanks, even if this comes to nothing.

a lad i know worked at the national Maritime museum over the summer. said it was pretty easy to get the job. i think he just went in there with his CV and asked to speak to the manager.

oh, aye - also - i'm looking for some work: part-time, preferably manual and unskilled. i've got bugger all paid experience at manual work but good voluntary experience, first aid and H&S training and climbing/rope-n-harness skillz. tbh, i'll take anything really.

  • hey, i work at the british museum, i'm also doing an MA and it fits perfectly around it. i'd advise you to sign up with seyner benson, who are the agency that handle all the museums and gallerys in london. its super fun and flexible and i get offered shifts doing front of house everywhere from victoria and albert museum to the Southbank centre, where i do a few shifts a week.
    Ask for neil or ana.

  • Train as a bike mechanic:

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2009/dec/01/off-your-bike

(Although that would probably be a busman's holiday for a lot of people on here. ;) )

  • Hey guys. I need a good bike mechanic to fill in for me a couple of days a week (cant work everyday it seems). Most importantly the 11th to the 14th of dec and also a month in march next year. I need someone who knows how to build and true wheels and has a good knowledge and appreciation for all types of bikes. Pays not amazing but its a good environment and you get a discount on some stuff you cant get anywhere else. I want someone whose motivated and organized but relaxed and trustworthy. anyway
    pm me if interested.

  • Edit: Vacancy filled.
Thanks all, will try to reply to all when i gets a moment.

  • ^^Bump :)
Jeez, no one looking for jobs anymore?

  • I know someone who would like to start out in that, but
I think he has a limited amount of experience.
Want his number? Seems like hecwould be good at it.

  • EDIT:
    Thanks :BTW, hope you're well!

  • Hey Guys,
Just wondering if anyone knows any Health related vacancies?
applied for a few off NHS Jobs, thought maybe a few people might know of any hospices, hospitals, or GPs.

Volunteer is fine, but would prefer paid work.

skills lie in the pre hospital emergecy provisions- but not as an paramedic, at least not here, and never paid.

Have experience in ASD schools too.

  • I need to find work on Thursdays and Fridays.
Will happily work anywhere bike/art/design related.

A bike shop would be cool or helping out in a studio.

    In fact, I'll do anything!
Please get in touch if you can help me out. ;-)

I'm currently working in the Central St. Martins design laboratory and have a good history of design which is mainly for fashion graphics. Have retail and brand management experience too...
