  • If you feel like it sure, but there's no massive drama just yet. I have a 5 LED Cateye that might fit the bill although I retired it for some reason so it's probably flakey. I don't feel like given Cateye more money for sub-par products plus I'd have to work out some way of mounting it (zipties onto bottle cage or maybe their Flex Mount thing if it fits Shiv post - doubt it).

  • Following an incident last week where my face and the tarmac colided I broke the release clip on my Cateye Volt 300. Its the black plastic item screwed to the base of the light, the bit that slides into the bar clamp. Its the bit on the base of the light in the image below
It doesn't seem to be a spare part. Does anyone know the part number or anyone that sells this item?

    Cheers

  • If you feel like it sure

Just over 6h on low/constant. If that's long enough and you think the bracket might help to attach it to your bike, you're welcome to borrow it.

  • @hippy
Hmm, 6h is obviously not going to hack it, with 13h between sunset and sunrise. Just hooked it up to my Nokia DC16, it seems happy to run off an external source.

EDIT: It went at least 11h on high-constant starting from internal battery fully discharged and the DC16 not fully charged. With the smaller but more energetic DC19 and both fully charged, 18h on high-constant should be possible.

  • Anyone got the new magicshine-mj-858? The black 1000 lumen version. Looks good value and nicely built from the pictures.

  • i def need this:

I'm pretty sure nobody needs that.

  • i am nobody

ja, you are right, 160lm might be a little to much

  • Thanks for testing it and thanks for the offer.

  • I'm gonna take a guess that Amazon's DC19 product dimensions aren't quite right..

    "0.1 x 0.1 x 0.1 cm"

  • Struggling to find a USB chargeable rack-mounted rear light... any suggestions?

Ideally Moon/Raleigh would hurry up and release their RB-19 bracket, it's been 'coming soon' at the distributor for a while though. Tried an alternative Raleigh mount someone on the internet said would work and unsurprisingly it doesn't hold the light securely.

  • Could you use bolts in the rack plate as pretend saddle rails to attach the standard Moon Comet bracket?

  • Hmm, I forgot that it comes with a saddle rail mount. I'll see what I can do this evening.

  • wise people of the LFGSS lights thread....looking to upgrade my lights and after something very good but not crazy expensive, I like the look of Exposure lights and seem to have some good reviews on here and elsewhere, what front and rear combo would people recommend? I see a lot of people use the Flare but has issue turning off? Blaze looks great but probably a little above budget. In terms of front, much difference between the Joystick and Sirius? anything else I should look at?

    thanks!

  • I'm also looking to upgrade my lights and I'm looking at a Mytinysun Folkslight, looks pretty interesting, but wondered if anyone had experience.

  • something very good but not crazy expensive

MJ-808 clone, £15, much lumens, wow.

  • Sorry if this has been covered but: How many lumens (aside from beam pattern.spread) do you really need for fast road riding on unlit streets?

Assuming you have set the light to the correct angle (bar mounted light) would 300 lumens be sufficient? Or better off getting an 800+ light and using on half power or endurance mode.

    Looking at something like:

    or

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/lezyne-deca-drive-front-light/rp-prod107768

  • Get all the lumens and point them up to blind anyone in your path.

  • 500 lumens +
i have a power drive xl (475) and it's not enough.
with it i want a very focused beam for lighting a narrower space further ahead.

  • Can someone ID a light for me? Some guy had a bright static light, which emitted a a brighter pulse once every second. It looked really good. I want one.

  • Lezyne microdrive, so I'd assume the bigger ones too do that, as do the cateye Nima, there are probably others as well, I think it's normally called pulse mode.

  • I think quite a few lights do that. I know both my Exposure Joystick and Diabolo do this is flash mode.
