  • Anyone have any experience of the Lezyne Zecto lights?

Yep, and so far so good!

What I like most is the setting that allows 1 led to stay lit whilst the other 2 flash away, also they have a little blue/green/red led cluster at the side that acts as battery power gauge - which adds to the side visibility.

  • My Exposure Flare keeps switching off. I've cleaned it thoroughly and that helped but did not fix it.
Considering a Lezyne Micro to replace it. Reasons not to?

For the micro drive you want to consider the run times. I run on low constant setting and have to charge pretty much 1x a day for a 10km each way commute. A bit annoying to me. Convenient little light though in some other respects and pretty cheap.

  • My Lezyne Superdrive has started switching off on bumps (on the road not off road) or changing its setting. Yesterday and today it wouldn't switch on without knocking it on the bars. It is only 9-12 months old.

Very happy with mine and you should still be able to get the set for under £45. Found the battery life on strobe mode to be around 3-3.5 hours which is easily enough for the average commuting day and/or after work pub trip etc. Money well spent

All Lezyne lights have a 2 year warranty unless stated otherwise in the individual product documentation unless I'm mistaken. They should replace it if you send it back

  • Anyone got a Cateye 135 or 155 rear lens for sale?
Fucking annoying they don't sell these spares

Might have one knocking around - will try to remember if I spot it

  • Hero!

  • Just ordered myself a Lezyne Macro Front, and Micro rear and a set of Hecto's for the gf. I'm sick of burning through watch batterys on shitty knog lights.

  • For the micro drive you want to consider the run times. I run on low constant setting and have to charge pretty much 1x a day for a 10km each way commute. A bit annoying to me. Convenient little light though in some other respects and pretty cheap.

I prefer my lights on a steady setting too. So what you say means I can go for night rides, but no longer than 20km. That doesn't sound very good. Does it come with a second rechargeable battery. At least with the Flare (when it's working) I can put the second, fresh battery in when it gets dim.

  • You will get more than 20 kms unless you are going really slowly. The specs say it will run 6 hours on the low constant setting (50 lumens). I charged it overnight, ran it on the commute (on 50 lumen constant setting) and the charge indicator went from green to red in less than two hours of use. I recharged rather than see how long it would burn before going flat (silly me), and I haven't had it long enough to know what run times to dead flat are like IRL. Also, I don't think there is access to the battery to put a fresh second unit in.

I bought this as a cheap alternative to a Hope Vision 1 I have on a second bike (rather than swap the mount for different size bars). The Hope will do more than a week of commuting for me on one charge of 4 rechargeable AA batteries. I would go that route if your budget goes that far. (I bought mine for 50 quid a few years ago. I didn't realize until I looked now how pricey they had become).

    Hope that helps.

  • ^I see now you're talking about the front. I am talking about the rear. I run a mk2 Exposure Strada on the front and I've never had a single problem with it.
I will give the Lezyne Micro Drive rear a go.

  • Oops. Not much help then.

  • Pharoahsanders, how's the Hope Vision 1 on unlit lanes? I need to replace my Lezyne Superdrive. If it isn't replaced in warranty.

  • Can anyone recommend some dustcap mounted lights? Maybe not the coolest thing ever but I saw a cyclist this morning using some with great effect.

  • Do you mean valve lights?

  • yeah, sorry, I'm stuggling today.

  • if its wiggle you get 3% cashback on top of discount innit

Only 3% cashback if you've already reached the amount of cashback Quidco take for their annual fee.

  • yeah, sorry, I'm stuggling today.

ebay have some that screw on the valves. I had them on my mtb, think they are still on the bike.

not seen any for road tyres though. where do you get those lights that light up pretty much the whole wheel when you are spinning? seen a few guys with them.

  • I got some from ebay with Presta to Schrader converters for about 2 quid. Was fun for all of 10 minutes, at which point the batteries ran out.

  • Any joy? X

  • Any recommendations for commuting/city use lights? A few simple requirements:

    • Fit with rubber/silicon band so can be used on various bikes without faffing
      -reasonably small
    • bright, but not retina-burningly so
      -waterproof enough for London
    • good (or at least predictable) battery/charge life
    • side visibility
    • don't turn on in your sodding bag
    • reasonably robust
-not cateye as they've failed me on several of the above
  • Lezyne.

  • Exposure Flash/Flare, Trace/TraceR

  • Lezyne.

    Yes, lezyne microdrive set!

The set is great, USB rechargeable, very bright, the holder seems very solid. The GF had it for six months and no problems.

Personnaly I have one in front and a FibreFlare for the rear. Perfect set for me.

Two downsides: Side visibility for the rear isn't great, it's not absent but it's only about 90deg spread; second is the need for a little usb extension. The usb connector is flush with the cylinder and can make it hard to connect on a laptop's side...
