Not very useful in road cycling then.
Never done a TNRC then Ed? More (automatic) illumination when bombing down a dark country lane at ~30mph would be very useful.
If you stay in the drop more, you can access the feeling of being closer to the road and thus connect better.
Unsure if trolling or just talking b***ocks...

How on earth can you mount the moon shield? they stick out quite a bits which mean they often get rotated when my thigh come in contact with it.
The only other places I can mount it on is the seatstay which isn't exactly the most secure place to put it on.
Plus it does have an annoying dark side, it's visible in one direction, but turn it 90 degrees and it's no longer visible.

Moon Mask - handlebars.
Moon Shield - seat post just btw top of seat stays works for me -
• #2556
^^why on earth is your thigh hitting your handlebars?
Even more so, why would you mount a front light on a seat stay?

On second thoughts I mount to the underside of my bars and do bare jumps blud so they would probably fall off.

Hope Vision 1 with price match.
http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Hope-Vision-1-LED-Front-light_19885.htm
(use this link as it got free postage as well).
got the price match through online ok but can't use a gift voucher on the website.
phoned up to order it that way and guy can't put the price match through as it's more than 30% and needs manager permission so they're going to call me back.
asked if i could do it in store but only stock is in warehouse so not possible.
why are gift vouchers always so bloody annoying.

Out of interest why go from rechargeable to non?

This is rubbish, there's no limit on price match, just turn up to your nearest Evans and order one in with that link in your phone as proof.

As above, you can order it from the shop, if you order it before 5pm, it'll be there the next day.

What rechargeable batteries have you guys found work well (as in battery life) in the Hope vision 1?
Was going to give these a go;

Eneloops. I can't verify but my research before mentioned these all the time.

I have a front one, and it's excellent. Clamp holds the light pretty tightly, would have thought you'd be ok. It's stood up to mountainbiking.

Eneloop and the 7dayshop batteries have technology with means they hardly discharge over time, and will keep 70% or more of their charge after 5 years or so. This is much higher than conventional rechargeables, which lose their total capacity on each charge and discharge relatively quickly when not in use.
The 7dayshop own brand ones, offer more mAh (charge capacity) for the price, but the eneloops are suggested to be a little more reliable.
You should also get a delta-v type charger which only charges batteries as long as required, and not just either on or for a set period as normal chargers do. This might even make more of a difference than the type of battery you use, as it enables the battery to realise it's full charge (by discharging and charging correctly)

I'm gonna pick these up for my Hope Vision 1

Eneloops haven't failed me yet. I must have about 20 or 30 of them spread around various devices. You can get the same kind of low self-discharge batteries from other manufacturers, but I think Sanyo were the pioneer here.
Sometimes you get them in a nice plastic box, sometimes just in the cardboard-backed blister pack. Seems to be rather random depending on the supplier.
There's also the Eneloop XX range which say they're designed for high current applications. Some of the brighter lamps might fall into that category.
Looks like they also have Eneloop lite for low power draw things like TV remotes (and for the weight weenies they're 19g vs 27g).
Also for the real hipsters - glitter edition!
And finally, I just found this on their site - they have a battery checker

They won't charge well unless you have a smart charger. I got this cheap one which I used to refresh some 7 day shop batteries I had used for a year on a regular charger and it made a huge difference.

I've had a bunch of Knogs. All bar one of them have packed up when used in the rain. I may just be unlucky, but I've stopped buying or using them - load of junk IMO. Real shame, becasue the fittings are super-easy, even when drunk - not that I'd ever ride in that state of course.
I've moved to Moons - brighter, better made, don't wuss out after a bit of rain, easy to recharge (USB), and similar rubber fixings for simple people like myself. All good. These are lights to be seen though, rather than for seeing (does that make sense?).
That said, I'm kind of tempted to go for a big-boys 'proper' light set on my new Pomp. Something that actually lights the road, and throws out some car-style lumens. I did a group ride at Christmas and one of the guys had a battery pack system which, although I don't like the idea of wires, was REALLY bright. The back light did this slow flash thing, kind of 'I'm so bright I only need to flash every couple of seconds' which I thought was cool, but I'm quite shallow. I think it may have been a Hope - pretty pricey.

Thanks for that one, looks nice for the money. Plus I can buy the batteries from 7day.

Anyone else find their exposure lights get stuck in the mount? I've had it the last two commutes
http://www.wigglestatic.com/product-media/5360075727/exposure_Maxx-D.JPG?w=2000&h=2000&a=7
It rattles into a position that makes the red pin almost impossible to push down to remove the light without a bunch of knocking, jiggling etc.
Reckon I could use some dry lube on the mounting plate faces?
-
• #2575
Yeah, I've noticed that. I ended up greasing the mount/pin/cleat and it's helped a bit.
I'd opt for the moon mask 5 and moon shield if I didn't have such a dark ride.
I had one of THESE taped to the underside of my stem, I could change the batteries by twisting the front off with out having to remove.
and one of THESE cable-tied to the underside of my saddle. They worked fine for but could've been brighter.
I hate having to remove lights so god knows why I went for the Magicshine ones you have too.
