I know there was a bit of discussion of the Lezyne-Mini-Drive before. A bit of time on does anyone have any additional comments?
I saw a deal on Rutland: http://www.rutlandcycling.com/34378/Lezyne-Mini-Drive-LED---Front-Light.html?utm_source=20-08-2012&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=mini-drive
£35 looks pretty good.
I know that there were comments on the batt life, but as this is a commuting job (30mins each way) I figure it should be cool(?). And I'd think that the drop in price makes it compare well.
Cheers.

not read a lot of the thread so my bad if this has been covered already
cateye nano shot el620rc
got mine for £47.99 delivered
awesome light
250 lumens wide beam
97grams including bracket!
damn small
usb charging
high, low, flashing (fucking bright flash)great commuter light but have also used two of them on unlit canal paths and trails without any trouble
seen others and some even smaller having same or greater lumens but none of them had the wide beam of the cateye nano and no extra battery costs

The Mini drive is good, I tried one out but went for the Powerdrive as I live in a really rural area which after dark there are no streetlights or anything. The battery life on Lenzeye lights aren't that bad, not in my experience anyway. I did the London to Brighton night ride with my powerdrive on its highest setting the whole time, it was fully charged and made it to the outskirts of Brighton before it started running low. I managed to find a decent deal on spare battery which are small and easy to carry around, if I had had it on the medium setting I think it would have made the whole 60 mile trip easily.
Spare Batteries for the Minidrive are pretty cheap, Googlehttp://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?client=safari&rls=en&oe=UTF-8&redir_esc=&q=lezyne+mini+drive+battery&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=11568769067363170740&sa=X&ei=bBBOUIOxHpSN0wW7s4B4&ved=0CEsQ8wIwAg#ps-sellers reckons £11!

Got this Rutland deal for my girl friend.
£7.98 inc p&p.
Overall they look cheap and cheerful. Come with batteries too. I really like these rear lights. They're a nice size and clip as well as mount. Also pretty bright. Perfect for London riding

Not seen that site, looks a bit spammy, is it legit?

Yes people on here have used it previously (see here: http://www.lfgss.com/thread30689-11.html)

But it is still super spammy. They ignore unsubscribe requests, and spam almost daily.

Anyone got a set of Reelights? Good review on bike radar but are they any good?

If anyone's interested in Reelights, I can vouch for the 520SLs (flashing with power backup) being great little backup lights. Good side visibility and a bright flash so they're excellent for being seen. They continue flashing for 4 or 5 minutes after stopping which is more than enough. They're quite easy to set up, too. Don't notice any extra weight or resistance when pedalling (although you can feel it when you spin the wheel by hand)
Downsides are that they're fucking ugly. The little lights themselves aren't great but at least they're small. The coil and the wheel magnets and the cabling are disgusting and don't look right on my bike at all. But then again, it's a cheap winter hack so I guess I can't get too concerned with what it looks like. I won't be putting them on my pretty summer touring bike though.
No word on long-term reliability yet, but I've been using them since October and they're still working.
I should probably also mention that I got them for half price. I don't think I'd pay full price for them, I'd just get rechargeable battery LEDs.

Are there any good front lights that can be stem-mounted and aren't too pricey?

Dug out the MagicShine for winter. 1000 lumen 3 mode jobbie, with the big recharable battery pack. I have the rear light two.
Brilliant for unlit roads. As the lower setting gives enough beam. Then you have the luxury of knowing you can turn it up.
Exploring some new off-road trails last night. I got in a bit over my head (do that a lot). Needed full beam. Which worked OK. But I was very aware that I could'nt go any brighter, and that if anything quit on me I'd be walking.
Thinking of getting a second 900 lumen lamp. But with a smaller battery pack. So I can run both fronts off my big pack, and the rear off the new smaller one. Giving me a lot more redundency, with little added cost or weight.
I already have a splitter cable. So the front should be fine, and I cant see why my rear wont run off the new smaller battery.
So it'll work. .....or am I missing something?

^that seems like a good deal, but where does that site ship from?
-
• #2324
I just bought one from kgm-accessory on ebay .
The beam wasn't great, so I also bought a lens for it which helps a lot.
I don't have much to compare it with, but on my first night time mtb ride the other night it was great! I was only riding for an hour or so, so don't yet know about the battery life....

Pretty sure its Tiawan. Bought my front and rear from them. No customs issues. But I ended up ordering a US plug by mistake. So needed to order a european plug from the UK MagicShine Site.
Was always meant to be a quick fix while I save for some higher end lights (quite fancey Ay-Up). But I've had no reason to replace them.
The Uk site has a emergency battery. Which is a nice idea. I would like to have tyhe rea running perminently off a separate battery though. So I dont have cables running front to back to irritate me when carrying the bike (happens a lot when the snow is too soft or deep).
ed means 'add £20 not for £20 cheaper' btw.
