**Discussion - How do you cap a rib with a carbon fiber strip? How much strength does it add?** It's something that has intrigued me for some time, and it's something I might try if it's useful enough, and cost worthy, but, how do you do it? Where do you get the strips for it?
I've only seen carbon cap strips used in conjunction with carbon trailing edges, kevlar thread-wrapped carbon/balsa shear web/carbon spars and carbon D boxes, a technique pioneered and used by 50/14 for many years.
The carbon cap strips link the leading edge assembly with the carbon trailing edge, resulting in a structure of great lightness but immense strength, especially torsional rigidity. The cap strips themselves are simply cut from sheets of carbon of the right thickness.
Carbon FTW

Morning went to see fiddy yesterday after work... i was not alone pig farmer, provenrad, jimjams(just leaving) were there.
Apart from the obvious appearance he's on top form!
He says says thanks for the well wishes and that he'll be back on track soon, that any visitors are welcome and thanks for the GWS cards.
I'm gonna pop by again today with some reading material.

yep it was a veritable bling/hopsital bikes orgy outside on Whitechapel Road...
Fiddy was in good spirits which was great, cycling magazine on bedside table. Worth adding that he's definitely in till Wednesday morning now as they have decided to operate on his cheek bone. The jury's also still out on his liver at the moment so he may be in for a while longer. But definitley there till Wednesday so I'm sure he'd appreciate a cycling buddy or two dropping by to break up the monotony.

Right in that case I will pop in after work on Monday before South Drinks for the last hour of visiting if anyone wants to tag along then ride down to souths gimmie a shout. I'll take him the latest cycling weekly and some grapes.

i might call in tomorrow if anyone fancies coming with?
-
• #165
might be a good idea for people to post what time they're planning on visiting?
that way he can have a few breaks / not have forty people round his bed when other dudes in the ward have noone....:)

I think it's obvious from the past 4 pages I just read that MR. 50/14 is one of the most popular and respected characters on the whole forum. It's a massive shame to see him down, but all I can say is he's a trooper, get well soon Paul. We'll keep these mean London streets rollin for ya till you're better.
John, awesome job getting him sorted out, you both deserve a medal!
Heal fast Fiddy! The definitive 50/Hard as Nails/14 quote, whilst battered and bleading on the floor . . . " I'm going to the pub!"
Genius!

I went earlier, but he wasn't in his bed. Given that his tobacco was on his bed side table, I suspect he's found a crafty place to have a fag. I'm going to pop back in about an hour.

Wow, you look like I did that time I came home drunk with no bike (having left the house with my bike) and could remember nothing about what happened, I looked suprisingly similar.
P.S you hair looks quite cool like that, you should keep the 'I've just been in a bike tumble' look it suits you.
Get well soooon !!
Has anyone done the requisite HTFU yet ? :)

rep!
I saw him at about 2pm today, he was chipper. I dropped him off a porno mag.
He's not getting out until wednesday at the earliest, but committed to getting to wests on thursday (at the sloaney pony?)
He was off to find a reputed hospital garden, around the back of the west wing. If you go to visit and cant find him, he'll probably be out the back.
