  • Derision leads to hate...

  • if you hate him so much 4c why post up the link to the story, as they used to say on why don't you, spend your time doing something more interesting instead.
otherwise you just come across as bitter and twisted, and I'm pretty sure your not.
    hate the hate.

+1. Well said Corny. Get well soon.

  • haight leads to ashbury

  • Have a look at www.bikeradar.com 4candles.. or maybe rec.bicycles.racing. They've love to have you. Muppet.

Oh, which banned drugs did he use for recovery?
Also, you do realise that while he wasn't competing they're not banned?
Whatever, like I said.. bikeradar for you

  • Astbury leads to cults

  • :D @ hippy

  • And that only leads to thinking you're a native American when you're actually from Cheshire.

  • You fucker, there's two threads on this already!

    Merged.

Yeah, just saw another in Rides and Races, thought it was more general myself

He's not a London based rider of Fixed or Single-speed... he's a racer. Rides & Races is perfect.

Not everyone cares for the news... I'm a bit meh on it personally. It's not General.

  • (borat) highfive (/borat)

  • joestudent<

  • It's an ego trip, pure and simple. I hope he fails massively and then the sport will finally be rid of this cheating, doped up arsehole.

  • THIN ICE ALERT. The man in question is extremely internet-savvy and even more litigious.

    Remember Je Cl***s*n and Popbitch?

  • what an arrogant cock.

"I'm doing it to raise cancer awareness".

Bullshit, Lance. we all fucking know you beat cancer, we've all fucking heard of cancer, we all know someone who's died from cancer, we all know that we should try to cure cancer, and we all know that shitloads of fucking cash gets poured into cancer research every year, all over the world. I think you're only doing this because you got all annoyed that the Tour has moved on without you and some people said some nasty things about your integrity.

This is only going to hinder the ability of the sport of cycling to move on from the "bad old days".

He should just retire gracefully, do his cancer pimp thing properly (full time) instead of using it as an excuse to reheat his ego.

  • he won't get busted as he has the $$$$ to get the best doctors and best (non-detectable) drugs

  • he won't get busted as he has the $$$$ to get the best doctors and best (non-detectable) drugs

    The pointless snide thread.
The man is an inspiration, one of the most tested athletes ever and did more to popularise road racing (and cycling) than most, especially in the States.

Still, if anyone knows better it'll be a few fellas on an internet chatboard.

dude i'm an athlete and have a phd in exercise physiology.

you simply don't ride other top riders (who were dopers and have been caught) into the ground. marion jones was tested upteen million times and never failed a drugs test. it means nothing.

I just sincerely hope he didn't cheat. Ricco broke my heart this year and I'd like to maintain at least SOME faith.

I would say though that (as you will obv know) Lance has some physiological advantages (lung cap etc) that other top riders didn't, despite their class. He also had a team whose sole job was to get him the yellow jersey.

  • doctor dale donchaknow

  • is dale czech?

true, but i am also a realist.

And mule the EPO blood to the next town surreptitiously ;)

  • yup - czech's in the post

  • In response to the previous postings about Astana, man, I was SO gutted about Vinokourov in 2007, but surely Astana came down hard on him and immediately voluntarily withdrew the entire team etc...

... not much blame can be assigned to the team, surely? Excited to see the big guy return, though. I never paid much attention to the Tour de France wen he was in it, so this is kinda similar to how I really got into Rage Against The Machine the same year they broke up. They got back together this year! WooT!

  • vb, meow!!

It's well documented that Armstrong had no physiological advantage - in terms of lung capacity and VO2 max he was in the elite scale but not as gifted as Lemond for example, who had a VO2 max of 92.5 compared to Armstrong's reported 85.

Armstrong was a doper who used sophisticated blood doping techniques in conjunction with Dr Michele Ferrari, who was convicted in an Italian court of supplying athletes with doping substances, to dominate the sport at a time when all contenders in the Tour were doping.

    The excellent cyclingfansanonymous blog puts it far better than I ever can;

"This sport has already asked a lot of it's fans, but this is unbearable. We've been utterly betrayed by our favorite riders, told an endless stinking stream of bald-faced lies, talked down to like imbecilic fools, and totally disrespected in every way. Now we are supposed to tolerate the Second Coming disguised as a fake cancer crusade. Do any of these ego-bound idiots ever pause to consider the fact that our belief in the sport is a two-way street, and it requires that the teams and riders treat us, at the very least, as sentient beings possessing a brain and capable of rational thought? But Armstrong just wants us all to hold hands, play dumb, hand around the yellow bracelets, and pretend that his comeback is about saving the world from cancer. Bullshit. It is about revenge, ego, and his bottomless greed for attention and approval. Lance's bloated ego cannot tolerate the idea that the world of cycling wants to forget all about him, his dirty wins, the doping arms race he fueled, and his black-hearted mafia tactics."
