I think I'm still a Lib Dem even though Nick Clegg broke my heart.

I have a potent dislike of Will Young. It's that chin, and that smile. He creeps me out. And his dress-sense, his daft-collared shirts. He's awful. Saw him hailing a cab in town once. I'd have run him over.
I don't like him either. He once laughed at me when I spilt a vase full of water down my dress. -

No, that would be rude. [Wish I had.]
I confess, I am looking forward to the return of Downton Abbey tonight.
And don't even think about DTMing me Dancing Prancing Fool.

I'm pleased for you. I don't think there's any way back for me. I was convinced all the way through the election, and then the coalition negotiations, that because the LibDem electorate consists largely of people who are basically moderate lefties that can't stomach voting Labour after what Blair did, there was no way they could shack up with the Tories. I confess I feel pretty stupid now.

I've never seen Citizen Kane

I had this dream last night that I was trackstanding like a boss and it was really easy so when I woke up I thought "clearly it is a sign!" and rushed out on my bike to practice this activity.
Turns out I cannot, in actual point of fact, trackstand like a boss.
I've also never seen Citizen Kane even though I've got it on DVD.

I've never made it even half way through my Hitchcock boxed set.
Probably 'the most influential filmmaker of all-time' but they weren't all that great.

Hitchcock certainly wasn't the most influential filmmaker of all time, but then, I don't know if anyone could claim that label.
I don't rate any of his films highly (poor scripts throughout) except for his visuals. I think he was a great visual artist, and that that's what gives each of his films a unique and outstanding identity.

That's one film you really want to see in the cinema, on the big screen, and ideally not in digital. Don't listen to people who say it's hackneyed. It's not, just over-referenced. Not over-rated. It's also a film that grows on you. If it doesn't work the first time, give it another chance. It's worth it.

Going to be controversial and give Psycho a 5/10. It has lost the majority of its shock-factor (if it really did have any to start with) and has definitely not aged well*. Found the same with The Birds - let down by some pretty damn poor acting and also not withstood the test of time.
North by North-west on the other hand - fantastic film.
*Brilliant use of music/orchestra though

Kurosawa. Far far more influential than Hitchcock. Very different subject matter and styles though.
Films of note - Yojimbo, 7 Samurai (origins of Magnificent 7), Ran, Kagemusha*Infinitely re-watchable (don't quote me on that...)

also infinitely re-watchable: Rear Window with the gorgeous visuals and Grace Kelly's costume changes. okay, so it isn't 'heavyweight' but it is beautiful and clever. Notorious is less successful visually (despite or maybe because of the fancy camerawork that didn't quite convince) but the characterisation is great.
I confess to not having watched "I Confess".
yep. enjoy.
I think you better leave right now.
