  • Never been, always wanted to. I figure a rail ticket and a tent, a few extras, and some friends, a small trip might be possible. I've camped in france a fair amount and that was always awesome so adding cycling to the mix would be excellent...

  • Is anyone going to the Tour de France next yr! Who has been etc, whats it like!

  • Er

  • Umm

  • Err

  • Dibs!

  • I can trade you a lightly used Tourmalet... Tubs... Natch...

  • I've a pristine Mont Ventoux I could trade. I'd want a bit extra though as it has a memorial which Alpe d'Huez doesn't have.

  • what you want is a nice Galibier, just round the corner from l'Alpe so I could probably deliver.

... might even throw the Télégraphie as a sweetener

  • I've got a carrier bag full of used Swains Lane's. Any good?

  • Dibs!
you climbed Alp d Huez in 33mins in the eighties. thats nonsense, the record is by Marco Pantani in 1995. 36min 50sec. You talking porky pies.

  • 32 minutes in the late eighties.
how did you climb d Huez in 33mins, when Armstrongs quickest is 37min 36sec

  • Now that this new thread has been merged it makes little sense: it was originally in Classifieds.

  • Just the way I like it.

  • Also. apparently, upstream, I claimed to have climbed it in 33 mins, in the dark, in the late 90s and someone thinks it was a serious claim.

  • You did. I was there, handing you Cadbury cream eggs. You always did climb best fuelled by Cadbury cream eggs...

  • I'd have preferred it if you had popped them in to my mouth though...

  • how did you climb d Huez in 33mins, when Armstrongs quickest is 37min 36sec

In the late 1980s, Alpe d'Huez was a fair bit shorter than it is today.

  • So was Will

  • So, what was your time up the Alpe Clive? Oh, that's right....

  • Still, it was a jolly good effort all round.

  • I have a one year old Marmotte I am willing to let go to a good home. Are you kind to little furry creatures?

  • What sort of furry creatures? I'm in the market for a Gerbil.

  • Still, it was a jolly good effort all round.
you"ve climed Alpe d Huez, but have you climed the highest road in Europe col de la Bonette. Or do you know anyone who has? if you do know, is the man Robert Millar... if so can you get his autograph for me... thanks
