Seems like gran compe would be a good value. Goldtec are 140£ from outspoken cycles, double the price of gran compe.
Thanks guys
I'm waiting to hear more opinions, have to make a decision until the end of the week. -

Goldtec are the bomb though. There's people here who have run them for 4 yr+ on London roads in all seasons with no problems and FA maintenance. I'm not sure if a Grandcompe could cope with that?

^ yeah but there are also ppl here who have had ones fuck up, so it depends who you listen to.
IMO buy planet x or on-one for ~£15. I really don't belive that any of the ones you've listed will actually be better.
The only value of Miche seems to be if you want lowflange. The propriety cogs might be an arse and I'm sure from your search you already know you need to buy a non-miche lockring.
If you're looking for an excuse to spend more than ~£15 per hub get condor or grand compe as they look nice and have cool branding. The Condor's have little lazer etching and cute red seals. The Grand Compes look elegant. Altho if you think that having Halo or Surely written on you hubs is cooler then get those, most of these hubs are the basically the same.

I ride on Suzue Pro Max and can thoroughly recommend them - you should consider these too

Where are gran compes available for £60 a pair?

Yes.. I got mine from there.

Good lookin' hubs I reckon...

System EX - £52 a set.
Better than any of the above mentioned. -

I wanted to put another shout out for on-one/planet-x.
I bought a gold fixed-fixed rear 32h from them for £15.
It was delivered in <24 hours and came with two lock-rings.
I am still building the wheel so I cannot comment on the smoothness/longevity of the hub but for a standard Taiwanese sealed job this value is hard to beat... -

I only changed bc I upgraded to royce. Now building a beater wheelset with another set of on-ones.
My 2p - work out which two you like the look of most and buy the cheaper.

I've also got some on-one/formula hubs that work just fine too, although they don't do the miles of the goldtecs. All the above is good advice, just go for what you can afford. TBH those gran compes for £60 a set look pretty damn sweet.

So what everyone is trying to say is that there are two categories of hubs:
Good expensive ones like goldtec or phils and The Rest: all miche's and halo's and system ex's so if i can't afford one of the good one's i should go for the cheapest option? -
• #246
Yes.
...and from memory that's more or less the conclusion all "which hub" threads come to.
-
• #247
I know there's been few threads like that and i know about the one "hubs available in uk" so please no stupid comments like "use the search button"
All previous threads are a bit out of date......Wouldn't any of those threads you mentioned be brought up to date by you asking your question there, and then getting answers in those same threads? Oh yes, and if prices are out of date, I'm sure if you mentioned it on any of the threads....it would be addressed. Sorry if I missed something.

9th of August Ga2G's list was updated. Hardly out of date.
You are not special. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You're the same decaying organic matter as everything else.

some links not working or leading to out of stock products.GA2G - sorry to hurt your feelings and sorry that i dared to start a new thread without asking your permission.
Thanks for replies to everyone else, were very helpful
Had a wheelset made up on Gran Compes recently and have found them super-smooth, noticeably more so than the Goldtecs I also have. For the price I think they're kind of amazing really.
