Slowing down too abruptly would have meant the car behind would have hit me. I did slow down, as did the other traffic. But none of us were going particularly fast.
His entering the road forced people to slow in an unexpected fashion. To do this intentionally with a disabled person in his care was utterly reckless, or he was just too fucking stupid to work out the relative velocities of himself and the cars on the road.
I think stupid parents possibly have a right to invoke natural deselection and push their potentially moronic offspring into the road in front of themselves. But if this chap was a carer for the person in the wheelchair then possibly this was some kind of eugenics which I could not endorse.
Agreed. But I think if one is the kind of cyclist to whom these things happen on a regular basis, it's worth at least considering the possibility that oneself, as the common theme to all occurrences, might be the key to unlocking the mystery of why everyone else is such a fucking terrible road user.
Just a thought of course.
