the 2012 people are having a party outside buckingham palace. my glasses slipped as a rounded the corner to the mall's cycle area. I then proceeded at basically 2/3 pace to hit a metal fence head first with my helmet (luckily) because I noticed the fence real late.
nailed it. bailed it. collapsed in heaps of laughter and then had a 5-10 min chat with the security guys- legends. fucking hurts now tho :(
nothing wrong with bike nor me, so :) but has convinced me contacts are the way forward.
i think it must have been hilarious- all i remeber is rounding a corner and then ending up on the floor! -

I have worn glasses all my life and have developed pretty piss poor eyesight (I have to be about 3 inches from a keyboard to read the keys). On small rides I resign myself to the fact that my glasses will slip down my nose peridocally. For longer rides I use Wedgees (www.wedgees.com). They are hidden by my afro and can easily be stored in my bag. I wear the wayfarers (the preferred choice of any good hipster!) which are pretty heavy and these do the job perfectly.

I can't wear lenses as I have a very severe astigmatism. My normal specs are varifocals but for cycling I have some Bolle goggles which have three different colour shades (one plain) to insert over prescription lenses. They hold on well, are light and keep crap out of my eyes. Because they are single focus I can't read anything when wearing them but tend not to read the paper while commuting to work. My optician told me that I was too old for laser treatment and my astigmatism would render it worthless in any event.
Some people hide behind beards; I hide behind glasses.

don't really seem that cheap, when you can get a good second hand pair of oakley's and get your optition to swap out the lenses.
I wear lenses most of the time, but sometimes wear glasses. Last year I bought a pair of oakley prescription glasses, which have the same kind of "stem" as their sunglasses and the rubbery nose pad things. http://oakley.com/pd/1149
They don't slip at all, even when I sweat. I have been back to the optician once to get the stems tightened, otherwise they're the best specs I've had - but not cheap.

I got some wayfarers too! This means I cant wear a helmet though, as cheesy modern helmet and wayfarer combo would not be cool right? - what a dilemna!
I also cant decide what colour to have the lenses, as Id like to wear em as normal specs indoors.

Definitely agree with Mr Tom's earlier post for Optilabs http://www.optilabs.com/
I've got a pair with photochromatic lenses & have to say they are mint. I bought mine initially purely for cycling but now use them for loads of other things. Have found them particularly good at things like festivals too as a) The lens adjusts to the light condition so you don't have to worry when the sun goes down b) It freaks out the trippers / pillheads when the lenses change colour.
Their customer service is also excellent (I don't work for them).

ive had oakley perscriptions pretty much since they were first available, never fallen off my face, even after crashing and hitting my cheek on the floor!
As far as price, they are about the same as any other 'designer' frame, and the lenses are actually the same price as nikon polycarbonate lenses.....just got me a new pair this week, as my old pair(which are still great) are 5 years old! -

Got two pairs of glasses, one which slide off my nose the minute I start to sweat and the others which don't. The others are a pair of D&Gs with a thick gold fac and red arms. Bought to impress a girl and since retired for being a bit gay
Only real problem I get with cycling with glasses is I find the sweat runs down the arms, builds up under the frames then drips onto my shorts and top tube. And I get to watch it close up. Luverly

Or just spit on them and wash off, like a snorkel mask. Or wear snowboarding googles, I've been seriously thinking about that for a couple of days... :)

Have worn specs on bike every day for years - my cycle specs have reaction lenses and heavy anti scratch coating. Also to keep them planted in place most opticians should be able to put small o rings inside the hinges - they work really well and stop any slippage

Me too and for kayaking in the sea and rivers. Can't recommend these people highly enough, don't carry the same credentials as Oakley, Rudy Project or Bolle etc but cheaper and just as well made.

I have a problem going down - whenever I'm on my drops I find I'm looking over the top of my specs

Today, I've been modifying an old pair of civilian 'reactions' glasses. I never really got on with them off the bike, and they were too wide for my face, but cycling seems to be a good application for them.
They always sat a bit low, so I've cut 2 thin strips from (the width of) an old rubber shim that came with a bike light mount, and superglued them into the bridge of the glasses - they're plastic frames, no 'nosey' bits. It's raised the lenses up by about 4mm, which is enough to make them work even in a very aero position.
And I have some rubber bits on the arms as well, to 'grab' behind the ears.
Waste not, want not, etc.

Photo please - preferably in situ. I have visions of mad Heath Robinson/Jack Duckworth mash up so please prove me wrong (or right!).

ooh er!
You actually need a pair of these though

I cannot wear contacts and my perscription is too strong for simple perscription wraparound sunglasses. I have Bolle cycling goggles which come with lenses and separate filter lenses on the outside. These come in three different colours. The frames are non slip and really very good even if they look a little naff in the clear format and are not great for periferal vision and do not come as varifocal.

Okay - shitty webcam pics
Crude but functional. But enough about me...

May I use this opportunity to pimp my brother-in-law's opticians in Essex?
They offer a proper bespoke service, with a particular emphasis on maximising vision for sports performance. Gavin is the chap you see with hurdlist Sarah Claxton on their website here:

you must elaborate eyebrows!
did your glasses fall off? What it got to do with the olympics?
