  • I think this forum is going downhill thanks to whinging miserable gits that have been here a while, not due to newbie numpties, if anything they provide much of the entertainment round here, which helps to numb the brain pain from all the whinging taking place.

Again with the sex chat and innuendo. You're all ruining it, ruining it I tell you!

  • I think this forum is going downhill thanks to wanking miserable gits that have been here a while, not due to newbie numpties who are no better than your average fluffer, if anything they provide much of the entertainment round here, which helps to numb the brain pain from all the wanking taking place.

    Ok ok, i'm sorry Will.

  • I'm tired of answering the same questions over and over again.
How many times have I posted a link to Park Tools?
I'd much prefer to discuss something genuinely difficult to solve rather than answering "how do I change a tube" 100x. I invest a lot of my time looking for answers to people's questions so it irks me when people post questions that, if they'd merely type their post into Google, would have got them the answer. That fucks me off.. they're taking the piss and need face killing.
So, I will continue to be a sarcastic twat (and yet still generally posting an answer) but don't think you will get off lightly. Expect abuse for asking not dumb questions but questions that have been answered 100 times already. You have brains - use them.

  • a wise man once said you have two eyes, two ears and one mouth for a reason.

tommy there aren't any other super duper maths geeks on this forum

  • Thank you Will.

I will probably never start a thread.

  • Thank you Will.

I will probably never start a thread.

and I will probably never have children. Though in a very deep sense my threads *are *my children...

but you see its the ones who you call whinging miserable gits who are organising the rides, posting up events, keeping the drinks going, etc etc... if newbies want to be a part of the forum, contribute, get into the offline aspects of the forum, and spend less time asking inane questions that can be easily answered via the power of google.

@ will, this forum will never be an equal opportunities playground, because the majority of women who are into bikes will never obsess as men do about the minutiae of them, the small minority who do find this place enjoyable/tolerable, its never going to be 50/50, but if the forum gets anywhere close to a 70/30 man/woman split, I think it'd be a better place.

What you seem to forget though James is that it was the 'Whinging miserable gits' that helped to make this forum such a great place that all these 'newbie numpties' wanted to join in the first place....and that it's usually these 'whinging miserable gits' that have the knowledge to answer all the questions that these 'newbie numpties' come on here to ask.

The entertainment these 'newbie numpties' provide is usually based on the fact that a lot of them don't have the knowledge, respect, or even the desire to start threads that have anything to offer on the subject of cycling, so they fill the place with pointless shite...and incase you hadn't noticed, it's usually the 'whinging miserable gits' pointing out what pointless shite it is that provides the entertainment you speak of.

This forum is big enough to allow for a lot of different subjects, discussions, jokes, shit talking etc....they're all ingredients in the final mix....but when people join up and just post nothing but useless shite....never so much as a single constructive thread or comment it shows a lack of respect for the forum in my opinion.
That's why a lot of people who were here from the start...who helped make the forum so good that thousands of people wanted to join have now stopped posting.

Personally speaking, if wanting to keep bikes and cycling as the main focal point of the forum, and not wanting to read shit about whether someone likes people cumming in their mouth...or what they think of 'axe wounds and cunts' and all the other shit i've read lately makes me a 'whinging miserable git'...then i'm fine with that.

The absolute best thing about the forum now isn't the forum itself...it's the social side that has grown out of it...again, most of which have been started by the 'whinging miserable gits'.

Before anyone says it...i know things change, things grow, nothing stays the same....I love that so many people want to be a part of this place...but when people have such little respect for the people and the subject that helped create this place...it's kind of sad.

That should help cement my reputation as an argumentative, whinging, miserable git!
    :)

  • i don't want people cumming in my mouth.

  • WMG = today's new forum acronym

    Woot!

possibly the first post that doesn't include the words awesome, FTW and skid.. i am impressed.. honest thats not a winge ;)

  • If you don't want new members, close registrations. Or start charging for new ones.

I don't particularly understand why there's supposed to be a causal link between time spent on the board and idiocy, but there you go.

    Who is peddling these lies????

  • and if you are going to illustrate what you don't like don't keep referring to the same one person over and over again in a way which makes you look obsessive, spiteful and misogynistic.

  • ooooh... what have I missed, Will???

  • but the people who have done just that; by buying a unipack get knocked as well.

But that's the problem, rushing in to buy a fixed gear/single speed bike, there are hundreds of bikes available for less than the cost of a unipack that will get you out and active.
i have loads of good friends riding about on £20-£40 old geared racer of hybrid bikes that love their rides, they don't feel the need to get a multicloured fad because they don't think they are strong enough to ride a single speed or fixed gear and secondly they don't know enough about them to either build them or justify the spend (in excess of £150)

fools rush in, as Elvis said, he got it right and had a voice that could bring a fine wine to room temperature with one note.

  • and if you are going to illustrate what you don't like don't keep referring to the same one person over and over again in a way which makes you look obsessive, spiteful and misogynistic.

I mentioned no names Will....so if you think that refers to a single person, then maybe that's because you've noticed one person covering all those subjects too...as have several others.

  • misogynistic.

WTF has it got to do with that vietnam musical!?

  • I think I probably miss most of the threads that annoy people, as I hardly ever read any tech threads. I'm not very mechanical and tinkering with bikes has never been high on my list of priorities. I can understand it if someone reads a lot of those, though, and constantly has to face such questions, that they get frustrated.

  • I just wish someone would occasionally acknowledge that this forum is frequently improved by newcomers; and I'm not going to name any names either. But you can look at my friends list if you really want to know. There are 'respected' members on here who bore me to tears and others who have been excoriated who's stuff I really enjoy. It's a matter of opinion; it's not my forum, or yours and existing members have been complaining that it's going downhill for as long as I've been a member (just under a year). I think the forum, in all it's guises, is fucking brilliant. Flawed but brilliant.

    Spooky.

  • But I think your downhill is my uphill :)
