Yeah, ace and skiddy

at first the grip was pretty weak after coming from a Gatorskins, but it's much more controllable after a few run-in, better to have a tyres that you can control than an uber-grippy tyres.

Man I hate the fact they're uni directional.
due to me not paying attention I kept putting them on the wrong way round, and on the omega v's it was taking like 10 mins per tyre so after fucking it up 3 times (officially it took me a simpsons episode worth of time), and finally realising I had still gotten it wrong I was like fuck it, and left it the wrong way round.
So now my leading spokes are going to trail, but they can fuck right off. -

Henno, they don't take long to wear down though, so in two weeks you won't have much tread so it won't really matter

Just angry is all.
Today when working on my work my brain just wasn't there, so I thought, fuck it I'll take a break and do some bicycle maintenance.
Since it has become clear that my brain just wasn't focussed on that neither.
balls, I'm a bit anal about these things on my bike.
Anyways... back to the finishing of the build.
( I'm glad I ordered so many tyres, as I managed to fuck up the steel bead on one set, so did a disection of it, there is some serious puncture protection in there. I'm gonna cut it up completely and then chuck it under another tyre, and have a uber tyre!!!!!!)that and the fact I asked about directionality.
pillock. -

Mugs game. Pedros tyre levers help.

I put two Randonneurs (28c) on Mavic Open Pros today. The first one --front wheel -- was a real bastard and I managed to puncture the inner tube. The rear was a piece of cake. I don't know why, but it just got on the rim.

And randonneurs are super slidey.
I thought they were grippy... probably shows how crap the last set I had were :

new rando's, less tread marks so more rubber, only 700x35 and 38 though, but £10 ea

Is anywhere selling white ones at the moment?
-
• #463
i don't get the complaints about omega'v and randonneur combo,
took me about 20 seconds and i only had to use my shitty plastic tyre lever for the very last bit..
what was the problem? -

Ask 14 bikes co, I think they might have White.

what was the problem?I dunno, couldn't get it on for love nor money. what type of randonneur were you using?
usually i'm quite proud of my tyre putting on ability. -
• #466
do they stiil make them without the god damn reflective strip on the side?
i'm having trouble finding any. -
• #467
cyclebasket have them without the strip, they're cheaper than elsewhere but postage is very expensive..
@eyebrows, just the 28c road version, maybe it depends on what size tube your using? (although it shouldn't do..)

Death of a Loyalist Randonneur.
My main aims was to try and wear the tyres as much as possible since I got an extra Randonneur in a buy one get one free offer, might as well have a little experiment starting from the 9th April, and finally popped it's raw anus this morning near Waterloo on the 3rd of July.
I have a little trip computer hidden away and it show that I've done 2,021 miles since April, so it managed to held out 2,021 miles in 4 months worth of skidding (on 19 skid patches);
if you burn throught the red layer, you're pretty much running on fumes from then on, it could easily take one skid to burn a hole in the tyres, or take forever to.

how on earth did a randonneur last you 4 months??! brakeless too??
brakeless it took a month to get my last one to the same state as yours.
then got an armadillo as emergency replacement and that lasted 2 weeks..
now going to try a maxxis refuse, never used them before but it was a good price + good reputation :)

• #470
different skid patches perhaps? (it's like that on all over).
-
• #471
mine too, 38 potential skid patches (49x19 ambidextrous)
-
• #472
Nice one Ed. What are you going to try and fit next? I await the thread with barely disguised glee! ;p
-
• #473
I end up fitting those continental grand prix 4 season as it's the only one in Evans that come in 25c, bloody expensive mind.

You must spend more time skidding than actually accelerating!
I've had a rando on the back of my langster for longer than ed and I still only have a couple of red patches poking through. Brakeless too. And i skid pretty hard, on 46x19 ambidextrous.

what can i say i'm a fixie-skidder.
no seriously though i don't skid that much, maybe i'm just
goodrad at burning rubber.
And randonneurs are super slidey.
I mean I went to skid, expecting these to give some (alot) of resistance, and nearly face fucked a BMW who had decided to turn left without indicating.
In the end it was a perfect stop, 2 in away from the side window, foot down on ground.
