Just tried testing a couple of bikes - from evans and halfords! ArghhH!
Evans had various sizes of Charge there - surprised to find that the small was a decent fit - thought I would be medium as I am 5'10. The bike was not as it should be - the fixed wheel cog was missing - hence a flip rather than a flip-flop!
Tried the Subway too - nothing wrong with it but did not feel as nice. It is basically a mountain bike with slicks - nothing against that but I was personally not looking for something that resembles a mountain bike.
Fan of the charge but will check out a couple of others.....

Ok, so this is a good idea.
Im new on this forum and I have to admit, if i was a rat trying to spam on forums, this has just pissed me off.
How do i tell i've been on this forum for atleast 24 hours? -

at least 24 hours after you've been registered on the forum you can be sure that you've been on the forum for at least 24 hours..

Aye, but I registered a good week ago, I had come on the forum for a quick peek every now and again and well I have no clue how many hours its all added up to :/

As far as I know it's not cumulative of how many hours you've actually spent on the forum, just 24 from when you sign up.

Hi,
I wanted to find out more about buying a bike in a box. Have seen a Bike from Bikes 2U Direct, a Saracen Venturer 2 07 for £220. Will it be easy to assemble? Is it good value for money?
Can this company be trusted? Or should I stick to a local store?
Ideas?
I need the bike for the London to Cambridge run. At the moment I'm riding my 5 year old Challenge bike which I bought for only £80! It still goes okay, but I want a hybrid. My budget is £250.

Go to your local bike store and pick up a Giant or a Specialized hybrid.
There's plenty within your budget and they normally come with a free service after 3 months. If anything goes wrong with it or you have any niggles then you have a point of contact.
Or you could buy a fixed or singlespeed :^]

can we add an instruction along the lines of - do not buy a unipak or create bike, if you do expect to be laughed at, especially when it fucking falls apart
-
• #1837
Yeah, I have to say that I did not know any better and was close to getting one.
.....saved by the forum!

Yes, fine forum. I went to the bike store recently, they are now selling flip/flop fixed gear/single speeds, ornate bicycles, £600 generally I would say...I do have a single speed set up...

I fixed up the Super Tourer I have, that must be the best route to go.

3rd post!
Just want to look good ....just joking - I think like others on here I seem to spend a lot of time gathering and playing with bikes. I had 3 racers, now am down to 2. One I just use around London and I think this purpose wuld be much better suited to a single speed (less maintenance etc).
Also I just fancy a change/something new ....
